do salt water change.

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

whats the brand of salt mix you are using.

only way to bring them down is water changes.. or leave it if calcification rate in your tank is high.

Brown SPS > Kinder Surprise

White SPS = Kinder Surprise after expiry date

Assumption killed the dinosaurs, they didnt have test kits.

i am using redsea coral salt. if i leave it, are kh 15 and calcium 550> bad for my corals and fish?

i just couldn't get the ratio right... i tried salt water change, either it brings down my salinity or cause high calcium spike...

If you only have LPS and some softy.. I would suggest you let the tank alone and the KH and CA should go down after a few days..

If you have SPS, I would suggest you do a partial water change of 10-20% (using salt mixed or NSW), if salt mixed if no good, just get NSW from LFS...the water parameters for NSW such as CA, and KH are lower (but SG should usually at 1.025) than your current water readings and it should bring down your CA and KH. After that just let it be for the few days to settle down ... :P

If you need to adjust your water parameters please do it slowly so that the impact to the corals and fishes are lesser..

You can just leave it and stop any more CA and KH dosing.

Over time they will drop with your correct MG

Bro Clee, very impressed with your advise as it is detail, comprehensive and rational.

Do identify the source of the problem i.e. why in the first place the KH and Ca get so high ? You need to nip the source problem or you will constantly having to tackle this issue.

If you are more comfortable with using salt mix, choose one brand that has a lower Kh and Ca level. Pm me if you need a good recommendation.

Take care !

Treat others the way you wanna be treated...
