IanJ
Morgan Interested how you manage to stop byopsis from growing. I continue to have a problem with it, i skim heavily, water changes twice a month etc. Thats why i was worried about it spreading in your tank. In my tank it seems to spread very easily, so easily i assume it releases spores and starts new growth at random. I also have an elegance for almost a year now and does fine, recently got a purple one and just noticed some damage to the skeleton, which i hope will recover. Morgan
Ian I have very few fishes in the tank.....and byopsis needs alot of nutrient. Another thing is caulerpa....mine is a pest....growing everywhere......don't think the byopsis can compete with it. Post pics of your coral. SRC Member Matt06 Posted January 5, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 5, 2004 Becareful when you target-feed your corals, not to input too much liquid food at a time and pay more attention not to "shoot" forcefully at the "mouth" of the corals, one tip is to turn off water circulation. Morgan
Just to clarify....you cannot target feed elegance with liquid food. Infact liquid food is useless for most LPS. They need bigger preys. I feed mine with small pcs of shrimp meats.
SRC Member ah^siao Posted January 6, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 6, 2004 hmm when u feed LPS.. with meat.. do u really see them eating or just place at the mouth then they got a hold on it after some time the piece of meat disappear?? cauz mine is i put near the mouth the they got a holding to it.. sometimes the fish swim there and bit off the piece of meat... Morgan
Put the food onto the tentacles.......never put it into the mouth......and you can see the tentacles bring the food to the mouth like an anemone.
IanJ
The green one is almost a year old. The purple one is the recent addition

Achilles Tang
Definitely not an easy coral to keep. I had one that lasted a year.... before one of my heat wave episodes. They do better in higher nutrient waters and lying on the sandbed apparently but yet sensitive to nitrates. They succumb easily to disease, esp brown jelly, as pointed out by Tanzy. They are indeed beautiful corals. AT
IanJ
Morgan It is currently placed in a high flow area(where i find they tend to do well). I noticed, after i got it home that there was some damage to the skeleton. It may recover.
SRC Member weisoon Posted January 7, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted January 7, 2004 Hope you guys don't mind. AT, do have any pictures showing the disease brown jelly? Interested to know how it looks like and does it affect only the elegance coral? Thanks.
