McNugget
Hi kiko, you mentioned ur clown fishes lay eggs once every fortnight?? Sounds very reproductive. Are all clown fishes like that or how do I actually choose clown fishes that can breed? It seems really very interesting to watch the eggs grow. How do I differentiate the eggs? A mass of jelly like substance floating on the water surface?

Are all clown fishes like that or how do I actually choose clown fishes that can breed? It seems really very interesting to watch the eggs grow. How do I differentiate the eggs? A mass of jelly like substance floating on the water surface? yes they do.. once they lay eggs the first time, they'll just keep laying every 2-3 weeks... only mated/paired clownfish have a chance of breeding... you can either pay a premium to get paired/breeding clownfish, or you can choose to pair them up yourself.... personally i would choose to pair them up myself... if you wanna find out more, you can check out this website.. quite an interesting read... http://www.breedclownfish.com/ eggs look like the toppings of orangy tobiko sushi... haha.. they'll spend a few days cleaning an area of the rock they would lay their eggs on, and lay their eggs there once they're ready... i'm not an expert in raising the babies, always feel sad to know that these babies always hatch to be fish food eventually... a good place to get nice clownfishes would be CoralFarm... Hey ig.. hows the powder black doing? Any updates? hey wilson, powder black doing well... little signs of white spots once inawhile, but it'll go off after awhile.. feeding greedily too... hopefully i can raise and sustain this beauty... looks like i got to put off my dream of adding an AT on hold for awhile... SRC Member pokmingsheng Posted December 6, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted December 6, 2011 Some pictures of my clownfishes and their eggs... Is there no way I could ever raise them up in a reef tank? i would really love to try my hands at breeding some day, but space at my place is limited... cant have too many tanks lying around the house.... pardon the blur photos taken with my iPhone... Guest
Congratulation to your promoting to a father. I think the only way for the egg to survive is to remove it for it to hatch, maybe you can check with some of our breeder over here as well for their advice,

How's your tank condition? got it back up? lol... opps... looks like i'm starting to reveal too much about myself tank condition still slowly bringing it back to the desired parameters... corals took a bad hit... SG level too high... almost hitting 1.030.. sigh.. pH went up to about 8.49... everyday removing abit of water, replacing it with DI water... now wondering if increasing my dosage of calcium would help me to bring down my pH i do suspect my PO4 might be on the high side as well, got to get it checked... sigh.. all the neglect once i start work.. thank god fishes still doing fine...
