U can try the SPCA. They do provide cremation services for a small nominal fee. U can either send your deceased pet yourself at SPCA or U can give them a call & get one of their guys 2 pick up your pet for you.

Hi terry&simon ... dun worry everything's cool. U might B right about the frequency of summons being issued 4 our Singaporean vehicles but it just had a racial slur 2 it (even if it wasn't meant that way ). Yes I've heard of horror stories in the North & emphatise with our drivers. Tho we've driven there countless times B4 we R extra careful Bcoz we should respect other country's rules. If our neighbours choose 2 conduct their business in an ungracious or unethical manner, we should just refrain frm going there in the 1st place. Support our local economy ... My main aim in joining this forum is 2 learn more about marine keeping ... not get dragged down by empty repartees with people who R clearly insensitive 2wards others. I think thats a very unfair & careless remark/statement, ... just because their new year (Hari Raya) is approaching does not mean that U can assume they "saman" us Singaporeans even more (just 2 make more kopi $$).

To Check Outstanding Malaysia Traffic Summons Click on the "JPJ Purplish Logo" & key in your Singapore registered vehicle license-plates. It will tell U if U have any outstanding traffic summons. This is a Singapore (local) website, how accurate it is I dun really know, but I think its a direct link 2 the Malaysian website that U key in your license numbers. P.S : MayB 1 of our Malaysian reefer brothers/sisters can give us their local website addy that we can access.

I think U're very wrong about that ... coz I'm as guilty as the next guy (& I'm a gal). I'm very lucky that my hubby's not only supportive of my new hobby & helps out unconditionally, but also takes me out 2 farms/LFS 2 seek new stuff. He may not B as "obsessed" as me but he's equally (if not as keen as me) on marine keeping. Dun think there ain't exceptions in this world; hobbies ain't gender bias. There R ladies out there who R equally passionate as the men R in marine keeping ... P.S : Hey, give the ladies a break ... tho many R not as "obsessed", they R generally "tolerant" & giving ... coz they love/care & understand that every man needs his TOY ...

MayB they should get/operate a farm too . That way they can do the distribution & sorting out of LS/corals etc. at their farm (ie. farms being wet/dirtier as most R usually) & send the good & healthy specimens 2 their shop in Lavender, 2 sell. Since they've got good contacts/shipments weekly, they might do better if they re-access their distribution line - then they can make more $$ & yet save LS lives & inturn contribute 2 the marine arena by being better & responsible LFS owners. That might solve the problem ... but of course running a farm is not cheap lah (I know). There's hope yet ...

Does that mean that yr tank size is probably 1 of the biggest able 2 squeeze in2 an HDB flat (pre-assembled)?? Unless of course U get yr tank assembled in the flat itself ...

I think we should happy that we're even getting a bonus 2 begin with, when most companies dun. I think we should always B grateful that we have jobs 2 begin with. Whether its 1/4 mth or 1/2 mth bonus or 13 mth pay, at least thats a job waiting 4 us on Mondays. At least there's $$ 2 buy food, $$ 2 pay 4 housing, $$ 2 buy clothes, $$ 2 pay bills ... There R people without jobs, people who have 2 beg & borrow even 4 food, people who have no roof over their heads ... Can't we see how lucky we actually are?? I'm always grateful 4 my family's health & well-being, whether we have more or less $$ is not really important (yes $$ is crucial 4 survival but it aint everything lah), as long as we R healthy, happy & loved, thats all that matters most. Count your blessings whilst its there & always B grateful 4 what U have, coz U'll never know when its gone ... Well, thats my mantra anyway ... Cheer up everyone ... & start planning 2 save ... or spend your year-end bonus!

Someone posted in another thread that they R being inspected (??). Is it due 2 public complaints, 4 their lack of care/cleanliness/upkeep etc.?? Or R inspections done at random? MayB after the inspections they will buck up ... we can only hope ... After all, they do bring in a good variety of LS/mushrooms that R reasonably priced, mayB a better upkeep will help out. Personally, I think they have a lot of good potential ... just need 2 do a bit of re-thinking ... "re-scaping". Their 2nd level area is also improving a lot. I wonder how long they have been in business (??) ... if they R "seasoned" businessmen in the marine arena, they should have been "acclimatised" by now. There's still hope ... P.S : I still go there ... everytime, hoping things will get better. Never give up ...

A few years back, beating the red light camera used to B 6 demerit points, but now its increased to 12 oredi (think its the same 4 speeding rite?). Most times they dun "entertain" anybody's pleas 4 "innocence" ... but who knows, U might B lucky. Or it might just make U more fed-up ... try but then get turned down (get yr blood boiling & heart rate faster 4 nothing). Just my opinion thats all ...

Demerit points last for 2 yrs, then it goes back to normal. Dun think writing in will help much (especially if the vehicle license plates were caught on camera ), but no harm trying. Aiyah ... if U get caught breaking the rules in Singapore (any rules), just pay up loh. How do U go about fragging them? Cut them at the ends? How 2 attach them back on a piece of rock? Or is it the same, like its done for mushrooms?

Saw a lot of cowfish (looks quite healthy) at Sea Life. Some nice mushrooms too. Their show tank got nice big fishes ... few big gobies & Powder Blue Tang (all very healthy & nice colouration).

Hi Yellowbelly I dun think the guys mean any harm ... infact if U sieve thru the comments posted here, there's a lot of info & advise frm yr 1 post (as opposed 2 other topics started by a newbie). Dun get offended OK ... everyone's here just trying 2 learn frm 1 another, thats all . Dun believe everything U hear frm the LFS, most give lousy advice & even the ones that R not out 2 CON U, they might still B giving U the wrong advice . U must remember most LFS just wanna make $$$, as much as they can frm 1 person, they R businessmen after all. I find that if I arm myrself with enough basic knowledge, its easier 2 spot the good LFS among the unscruplous ones. Like AT said, take their advice with a huge pinch of salt ... U have 2 trust your instincts & know-hows. If we appear knowledgeable, its not that easy 4 the LFS's 2 cheat us ... My only advise 2 U is 2 B patient & constantly read up (its really worthwhile) - whether thru SRC, the internet, books or well-knowledged reefers & a lot of trial & error. B4 embarking on marine keeping, I didn't know a lot of the lingo used here but slowly I am beginning 2 absorb the terms. I find that joining a forum helped a lot because U can ask real-time questions & U might get answers quickly . Yellowbelly ... strive on & U'll soon B staring & admiring your newly set-up marine tank. Good Luck!
