  1. Looks like the common consensus is coral health, growth and being visually pleasing to the eye is top priority? Anyone has different expectations, or something else not from this list?
  2. Petmart carries this product package as well.
  3. You might wanna consider coating the fan guard with a thin layer of Vaseline. Prevents it from rusting. Downside is, lots of dust get trapped on it.
  4. Glad to hear things worked out for you. Cheers!
  5. Very nice~ I share the same dilemma on "flying fishes". Love the rimless look, but can't bear another death by carpet surfing.
  6. No harm trying with 8 inches of water level. You can play around with the valve control.
  7. I don't think so. You can only work with more water, which can be easily rectified by raising the height of the skimmer, but not less water. Unless you want to add an additional pump to maintain the water level, which kind of defeat the purpose for a non feeder pump skimmer.
  8. There are no issues putting the Ricordea family together. However, Ricordea Yuma can be rather aggressive towards other corals. Just place them with caution.
  9. I dun think noise is a problem, since you are not going to be in the office to listen to it during the weekends. Set it on a digital timer and you are good to go. You can always ask the staff to test the equipment, and if the noise is unbearable, then you can make other choices.
  10. Upz for you, bro! Too bad your place is a little too far for me, otherwise, I'll definitely pay you a visit.
  11. Lol... I think there are plenty, just that they compromise on quality, so not very useful. Thanks for your input!
  12. Hi fellow reefers! What do you look for when you buy LED lights for your reef? Here are a list of items to consider, and how would you rank them in terms of importance? - Pricing - Ease of use - Coral health / growth - Overall outlook of the reef (colours pleasing to your eye?) - Design (looks like a freakin' cool toy) - Power consumption - Customizability (modular system, interchangable parts, etc) - Upgradability - Wireless control - Syncronization with 3rd party equipment (ie. app control through smart phones, controllers, etc) - Touch panel control - Dimming / in-built timers - Special features (ie. lightning, cloudy day simulations) - Accessories - Build quality - After-sales support - Hybrid options (coupled with T5s) -
  13. Mine ignores the cheaper zoas and always pick the more expensive ones... however, like what reef garden said, make sure that they get enough food so that they will leave your zoas alone. Target feeding would be best.
  14. I would recommend Sunon. You can get it at Petmart.
  15. How big is your tank? An Ice-Probe can barely cool down a 1ft cube, so anything bigger will be a challenge. Another choice is the CSXC-1 Aquarium Chiller from Chill Solutions. It uses the same thermalelectric cooling technology, and it comes with temperature controller.
  16. It is not very clear, but judging from the photos, I think what you have is a bi-colour dottyback instead of a Royal Gramma. Have you read those pinned articles in the Beginner's sub forum? You need to understand the basics before you embark further into this hobby.
  17. I'm in love... CIrrhilabrus lanceolatus, the pin tail fairy wrasse (Photos from Reefbuilders)
  18. Just stick the frag directly onto the wall. It'll grow from there. If you can get lots of water movement on it, it should multiply very fast.
  19. Beautiful flame wrasse!
  20. As far as I know, active cooling is good to have, but not an absolute must for T5s. The previous models for DELightings do not have fans.
  21. I second DELightings lightset. However, like ATI lightsets, they do not come with stands. Do check with Razali on what can be done to improvise. I believe using the Maxspect mounting will be able to achieve what you want.
  22. You are definitely very passionate about fishes. Mind sharing your good practices? From collecting the fish, quarantine (if you do), till releasing the fish into the display tank. I'm sure we could learn a thing or two on fish care.
