  2. hi, anyone knows if pac coo sell external themostat for controlling the chiller?
  3. off topic... where can i get those external themostat and what is the cost like? i am using cl450 for my 3 ft tank.
  4. agreed with hammer! if the fish is active, it will eat sooner or later...when it is hungry. but it will be good to constantly feed it with food
  5. my opinion....add live rocks to house the bateria, get a hang on skimmer to skim and provide oxygen for your life stocks, weekly water change to maintain the water chemistry, good lightings. and most importantly, do not overstock.
  6. a tank for small peaceful fishes
  7. also ensure that your magnesium level is at a healthy range, not only helps maintain kh and ca level, heard also kalk decrease it...not too sure though. i follow the bro above, mix the solution well, settle over nite, drip clear solution into tank, preferably at night when ph is lower. i do keep the remaining kalk solution in air tight box, to prevent air from been in too much contact with the solution
  8. star polys grow like wild fire if conditions are right, same thing for clove polys...based on what is happening to my tank now
  9. just came back from lck, still have lots of purple tang, yellow tang and blue tang..very healthy looking
  10. heard from friend that dell after service is not positive (not personal opinion). get acer if u not worry about the quality, heard from a shop acer after sales is fantastic, but i think acer price is higher, not too sure. me using toshiba, cost me 2 legs and an arm
  11. not that i am loaded, but i have always make it a point to spend my $$ at places where i feel comfortable and worth it, even if it is slightly more ex compared to other areas. just don't see the reason why i need to accept poor attitude from the shop owners why i don't own them anything and it is hard earn cash that i am using. everyone has a choice, but this is a good lesson learn for both lfs owners and us, hobbyist...
  12. most of the lfs do not issue receipt after purchase. even if they do, it does not state what are the items purchased. this is dangerous for the customers. look at it the other way, clementi 328 has its wares packed to the brim, yet they never worry if anyone stole anything from them.
  13. paradize reef used to have a good selection of books, i especially like one which is on corals (forgot the title, but cover of book is green)
  14. personal experience: always have a problem maintaining proper level of CA and dkh. been dosing both for a long time but always see the 2 elements swing up and down. magnesium at 1200++ what i did: buff up my magnesium to high level, last test at 1400++, by adding 3 spoonful of mg powder (tropic marine) to my new salt water mix. i change water 1 red pail per week. also top up water using kalkwasser whenever need to, use to top up using DI water. parameter now: CA 440 dkh 7 hope it is useful for u, it works for me
  15. kent marine carbonate buffer is good but do check your magnesium level as well
  16. saw the syringe in guardian and AM
  17. take note that it has power backup up to 24hrs, no need ups liao
  18. not true that nothing eats coraline...think urchine does consume it
  19. my turbo snails never touch my coraline, as for hermit, not so sure....
  20. my tank is a 3ftx1.5x1.5 without sump, use to have lots of biohome in my corner overflow. my no3 ran sky high, close to 100ppm. read through the forum thread, found some of the lao jiao running their tank with only skimmer and lots of life rock. nothing in their sump. so i tried it, and it is working fine for close to 1 year. only life rock, good skimmer, frequent water change, and do not over feed or put too many fishes at one go...hope this help...note that they are many systems out there....
  21. anyone can help with this. its scientific name is Acanthurus nigricans.
  22. hi, i have read in some forums that gold rim tang is not reef safe, they tend to nip at corals. anyone can share his experience with this fish and give some opinions? btw, it nip at lps or sps???
