  1. Chicken essence bottle method doesn't work for me either. Always the doctor fish get the bait first. @#$%
  2. How small is the partition? If you have no space to build a durso, you are out of luck. Another way is to use a ball valve at the output to the sump to control the water level in the overflow slightly higher than the vertical pipe and this should stop the noise.
  3. Bro, Wash away the old kalk is a good maintenance practise since the old kalk has no more kh/cal value, and the accumulation of the mud tend to wear out your pump more quickly.
  4. Stock from Bro Borinz are all super healthy. Way to go bro.
  5. I think this will only happen when you have a 2ft or nano tank. With 3ft and above, I think is quite unlikely due to the tank volume. Also, unless you have a faulty thermostat, once the water reach the desire temperature, it should stay around that temperature. Having said that, I do agree that it will be funny to super oversize the chiller.
  6. Thanks bro. Really nice job. BTW, be prepared that the Hailea 6510 pump may not last very long due to the caustic properly of kalkwasser. You may want to replace it with an eheim pump which is known to last the longest in such application. Regards, Patrickc
  7. Bro, Can share what you use to glue the connectors to the acrylic? BTW, thinking of buying a router to do some diy job. Do you use one now? Any lobang where to get one at good price? Regards, Patrick
  8. My one hp outdoor chiller is oversided for my tank, but didn't see any problem. Electric bill is roughly the same before/after the change.
  9. Is your chiller sitting on wooden floor? May be that causes the isolation. I notice that for my outdoor chiller, there is a grounding cable, so grounding the compressor is a must.
  10. Not sure about Rio, but Eheim never over claim their spec. So you can trust what they say. Compare to reliability.....cannot compare lah.. I would go for Eheim anytime.
  11. To me, ozone is much more effective than UV. No more sign of ich in my tank. hehehe Upz for your sales bro.
  12. Using a ground probe is the last resort. If you just got the chiller, return the chiller to the supplier and get a new one. A new chiller is not supposed to cause any leaky current. You have a time bomb there.....that is, assuming the leaky current comes from the chiller. On the other hand, it could have been caused by the pump that pumps the water into the chiller. Happened to me once with some cheapo pump.
  13. My condolence bro. Heard that for prata, once it acclimitized in the tank, don't shift it around. You cause more stress that way. My experience is, once they are dying, it is very hard to reverse the process. BTW, you got it at a real good price back then. Now the price is 4-5 times more.
  14. Wow...cannot visit this thread already....my heart pumping too fast!!!
  15. That's good for you. In my case, the alarm didn't go off and the tunze just stopped working and the transformer was very very hot. Turned out that I need to replace the circuitry box cost me $100+. Lucky I discovered it early enough. Otherwise may have to replace a burned transformer too.
  16. Very nice man. Can share the spec of your cam? Any macro lens?
  17. Be careful when you put the tunze in Sequence or hi-low tide mode. As there are times when the tunze is not moving at all, and if the tunze get jammed by a snail or something, you could potentially burn the transformer or the circuitry box. This is what happened to me. Now I always ensure that my tunze is turning at all time, high or low speed. Regards, Patrick
  18. I guess you can look for the john guest fitting in Reefdepot website. Look under RO/DI. You can contact Nelson. He is one of the sponsor on the SRC. http://www.reefdepot.com.sg/
  19. One thing really stand out about these photos is how vibrant and red the lyretail anthias is. Is there a secret to their great color? Or is it the breed different from the normal lyretail?
  20. My naso tang is like a army tank. Super robust and eats like a cow. hehehe
  21. oic. Didn't know you were keeping FOWLR. Sorry.
  22. Just wonder why you need such big bottle. Unless you have a FOWLR tank, if you feed so heavily, don't you have problem with high nutrient in your water? If you thinking of keeping the bottle for a few months, won't freshness be a concern if the bottle has been opened and subject to moisture?
  23. I thought I saw in reborn that they have the big bottle. Not sure is it 400g though. I would be very careful if I buy from Chatuchak. Sometime they take the empty bottle and fill it up with cheapo pellet food and sell it. Similar with what they do on the copied perfume. Knowing how much PO4 there will be if you use the copied pellet food, I won't want to take the risk.
  24. If your skimmer is new, it will take a few days to run in. Be patient.
