  1. I've used the Eheim gravel cleaner. Quite expensive though. In the range of S$90 to $100+ at LFS (eg. C328) It works great for bigger things like chucks of food & shit. But it does make the water cloudy for a while. I'm not sure of the mesh filter size (i.e. ?? microns) I've also used an old canister filter from my old freshwater setup to clean my saltwater tank & sump. Filled it up with wool to trap debris. One end to suck stuff out. The end goes right back into the tank. About $20+ at LFS. Quite a clumsy setup but works.
  2. If you can see through the flesh, it means the zooxanthellae has been expelled - hence translucent. If there is still hope if there is still some color -> some zooxanthellae present. Put in low light areas & feed it more regularly (once every few days) since its not able to get much nutrition from the symbiotic zooxanthellae. There is a chance the zooxanthellae will multiply & regain color. Personally, my first open brain bleached badly (almost white + loss of flesh). Going through the above 'treatment' the past 4 months. Its ~80% recovered.
  3. Yes. Likely due to strong light. Place in in low light area like shaded or far corners of the tank. Hopefully it'll recover in several weeks/months. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Nice!! Any supplement regime aside from the calcium reactor?
  5. Thought you were going to get aluminum frames to mount the mesh netting? Change of plans?
  6. One continuous line for the vertical. One line for horizontal. Then finally one line for diagonal.
  7. You can consider a harlequin shrimp. They eat only starfishes. All sizes, even those way bigger than itself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I've seen the tank. Impressive. Amazingly clean sand too. Siaoaro, which is your favorite few corals in your tank?
  9. What brand is the Rotifer/Copopods bottle? Popular with the fishes? Do the mandarins take it?
  10. I personally prefer to use Seachem Garlic simply because its easier. But i also used fresh garlic with good success. If you have garlic at home now, you can start the 'treatment' immediately. Get a clove of fresh garlic. Crush it to get some of the juice to soak in your food. Works just as well.
  11. Lovely setup. I like the scaping. Looking forward to updates.
  12. I'm not too familiar with ABC+ but this is what i read : The ABC+ is a blend of both foundation & coloration A&B. Does not include coloration C & D which may not be critical. That is, an all-in-one option that is probably suitable for most systems.
  13. Reef foundation covers the basics of Ca, Mg & Kh. Its great but you want to to do better, consider the reef coloration program that adds the trade elements. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Just to add, iron is needed for photosynthesis for corals. Not needed for Fish only tanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Perhaps keep the process going for a month (garlic & UV) for 2-4 wks after the ich goes away & start scaling back. I understand that UV removes one of the elements - iron, hence it should be supplemented regularly if UV is used. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. The situation is likely as follows : - The ich parasites survives & remain in the water - Feeding garlic soaked food helps. The ich falls off the fish temporarily due to the garlic eaten - As the parasite is still in the water, they attach to the host (fish) again I had the same issue as yours when my Tang was 1st introduced (other fishes were OK). Just be persistent with the garlic for at least 2 weeks. Other things i did was to lower salinity to about 1.024. I also added a UV filter in an attempt to reduce the number of parasites in the water column.
  17. Have you managed to successfully activate your fusion account & link your neptune? Do you get the same issue if you connect it to your router via LAN instead of the bridge. I'm also using a wireless bridge http://www.tp-link.com/lk/products/details/?categoryid=1247&model=TL-WA850RE Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Yes. I'm using the apex. Many users in the forum as well. Could you elaborate the "up/down" issue? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Yay. Fellow Apex user Looking forward to updates Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. If nitrates is high, The dose for biofuel is 5ml for every 50 gallon (~200L) daily The dose for Microbacter7 is 5ml for every 25gallon (~ 100L) daily I believe that if your goal is to bring it down to below 20, you can either 1) Increase to the recommend dosage of Brightwell BioFuel + Microbacter7 2) And/Or add more bio pellet in the reactor (more surface for bacteria)
  21. I got mine from DEAquatics. But i've most LFS like Aquamarin or Petmart @ Serangoon. Prices are quite similar.
  22. Have you tried the softer approach of feeding garlic soaked food + UV filter?
  23. Henry does indeed have a nice collection of invertebrates. About the Yellowbreasted wrasse. Any aggression towards others?
