  1. forgot to add...i got my montis from two reefers....i believe u two know who u are...hope the two reefers do check.... it seems the least effected is a purple monti frag which is at the other end of the tank...and that purple monti is near a purple digitata...so now have to watch the digitata... the worst affected is the orange monti...i got a feeling the nudis are from there..well..but they might also hitch hiked from other sps...a probability those in RC said could happen..
  2. thanks for the well wishes...and sorry to hear from those who lost all their montis..hope i can win this well..the recommended lugols dip by RC and hamman didnt work..not even a single monti fell off.. so took a syringe and blow them off...blow around 40 or so of them..cant take pics cos the pail red and the photos came out red with white specks... anyway...the eggs i circled are eggs..just that the eggs are formed and they hatching soon..so gone glue them in their egg case now a recommended way from bro WL is to put the monti in tank water then place in freezer..well..the freezer is banned by my mom..so that cant be tried out.. anyways, got 2 six lines...now looking for yellow coris..anybody seen them pls do inform me...thanks
  3. another pic..the circled thing is the eggs
  4. alright...now i got them..and plenty of them..will use this thread as a log for my battle against them currently affected are my purple monti cap, orange monti cap and a plating monti..until now my two digitatas not affected...will monitor any tips of their removal will be greatly appriciated will appriciate if can tell me what fishes are good against these pest pls,,now only know of six line and yellow coris..any more? some photos for reference
  5. if i upload the song and u guys go d/l yourself..isit legal??
  6. CO2 is produced by zoox itself for its survival...like us..we take in oxygen and give out CO2... the photosynthetic pigments within the coral will take in CO2 as it is needed for photosynthesis...the amount of CO2 it takes in is determined by the rate of photosynthesis..provided it is not the limiting factor.. the compensation point is when the rate of CO2 production by it from respiration is the same as the rate of CO2 uptake for photosynthesis above compensation point...the amount of CO2 uptake for photosynthesis is beyond that of CO2 produced from respiration..so the zoox begins uptake of CO2 from the surroundings... below compensation point, the amount of CO2 uptake for photosynthesis is below that of CO2 produced from respiration..hence CO2 is released into the surroundings yep...lets talk abt the colours later..hehe
  7. bro madmac..like what weileong said, oxygen has no effects on the pH of the tank..so at compensation point..the pH should increase as all CO2 produce for respiration is used for photosynthesis...so there is no CO2 to hold the pH...and i was also thinking...some degree of colour from sps are for photoprotection..if u off the MH once pH lvl maintains..then those which achieve light saturation will not colour up as nice.. in any case..i have to agree thats a good hypothesis..
  8. i dont think so..iwarna show tank is a paly

  15. current highest bidder is sbs_transit at $38.. 4 more hours to go!! anyways...in case u guys cant tell from the pic..the zoo is red... to me...reseambles eagle eyes...to me lar!! heres some clearer pic...last night had a hell of a time taking pics..only to realise didnt set macro mode later..
  16. ok..bro reidylock...i believe you are new...but i must fore warn u that u need alot of dedication in this... yes u can keep seahorses in a tank without chiller...but in the end it is not an optimum temp for them to survive in..they wont be happy.. when you choose a seahorse...try to get captive bred ones...it makes your life much easier.. also..try not to get those with concaved stomach..those are very starved...yes u can try to save them...but u need to have extra dedication..my advise is not to try captive bred are usually trained to take frozen mysis...my advise is to enrich the frozen mysis by pre soaking it in stuff like zeocon and many other stuff live brineshrimp even worst...no nutrients and they are not from the sea...though sh take them readily...MUST enrich them...add zeocon and stuff and keep them in the fridge...not freezer...they live longer if you keep them in the fridge however...it is possible if the captive breds suddenly not take frozen mysis....then u will have to use fresh water shrimps...mind you..the fresh water shrimps are fresh water (duh right..haha )..ok...so they will not be able to provide the sufficient range of nutrients needed by the seahorse...so they also need to be enriched...how? by feeding them fishfood before feeding them to the seahorses.. average time for the freshwater shrimps to survive in saltwater is 1 hr...before feeding..pls do cut off the sharp spine at the top of their head...that can injure the seahorse... seahorses also need good water parameters just like any other fish k.. as for setup...i advice tonga branches...best if cured...live rocks tend to have thing like mantis and bristleworm...there are cases whereby seahorses eat the bristle worms and die..cos of the bristles...though not many..but it did happen so use live rocks can lar...depends on your luck...i nv experience such things before and dont use sea fan...the fan are small...sh need to grab stuff that they can wrap their tails around nicely...the sea fans are too small...and also u will kill that sea fan... as for lights..pls have lights hor...everything need light to see...unless they are from deep in the ocean...they live in lighted areas macroalgea wise...if u can maintain them without the macroalgae turning sexual then pls do..they can keep your water clean also... corals wise..try not to have lps or sps...softies shld not be a problem...the stings from lps and sps can irritate your sh very badly flow rate will be adviced at 3 times your tank turn over...means like if your tank is 1000L ...then flow rate shld be 3000L per hour? just my 2 cents...but hope this helps goodluck...anything just ask..i try to help
