My sps frags have started to bleach.. however it still has PE which I can see are spreading.

I'm attributing it to the high NO3 I have (>40ppm) and temp of 27-28'C. I'm also thinking could it be because of too much light? My lps have started bleaching as well nut other corals are doingfine.

Will take a pic later when lights are up.

Bleaching coral for sps due to high in KH check your KH. LPS will bleach due to strong light. If you using led it better to adjust the light. High in no3 will only cause sps become more brown and some lps more happy

Kakani, just what I thought as well, my sps should be brown if no3 are high. I thought sps need high lights.. Im using 2 6x3w evo lightsets. As for my kh, using API test strip it is 120 which is dKH 6-7 if I convert it correctly. So my KH is low instead of high.

Attached is a pic of yellow bn on left and radioactive bn on right.

rbn has totally bleached but has green PE. Yellow bn right side has bleached frm what i think was lack of light but it shows new PE growth since I added another lightset.

Bro, it better to use a more reliable test kit to test your KH. Like salifert. Sometime sudden change of light too strong will cost SPS to bleach too. And sometime is the light not suit for coral and cost coral to change colour. Not all led is ok for coral,

Frag those parts that are not bleached yet and put the frags at different height & position. Surely one will survive? Provided water parameters are being met.

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Make sure your parameter is stable .Too much changes in the parameter especially kh can bleach your SPS.

RTN - Rapid Tissue Necrosis - All tissue on the coral gone quickly... U will see the white skeleton of the coral

STN - Slow Tissue Necrosis - same thing just slower

Bleach - u can still see the tissue and polyps, just that there are white

Change from nice purple to brown. Why?

Any change in light, flow or NO3?

Nutrient seems abit high (i might be wrong) from the photos...

Progressively increase lighting see if it helps ba :)

Truth as well. Too much feeding on livestock. Will try to cut down.

Chalice are flourishing from the high nutrient.

Like what bro Kakani mentioned, some sps brown, some LPS more happy. Hopefully can get a balance.
