Please Suggest LED Lighting for 4x2x2

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Currently my 4x2x2 is running with Aquazonic 2 x T5 (54w) + Beamswork Doule Power LED 2600

Planning to upgrade to a better LED light:

One if my consideration is Maxspect G2 800nm with Cree Upgrade.

Please advise whether this light will be enough for my 4x2x2.

Will keep mostly fish and some LPS corals.

Please post your suggestions. Thanks.

Thanks for the information, i checked the Maxpect Razor 300w & 160w, liked the new model which is Razor 300w.

But it comes in 8k, 10k & 16k, which one is better for my setup (Fish + LPS), read somewhere that can buy the 16K and adjust the LED effect to 70%.

Please advice. Thanks.

Probably only the ai hydra or hydra52 is comparable to the razor. You get better control for the the hydra too. Razor only has 2 channels and sunrise sunset effect. No fancy cloudy or storm effect. As for price a single 300w should be slightly cheaper then 2 ai hydra and quite a bit cheaper den 2 ai hydra52

Yeah bro, definitely go for either the new model of maxspect, i.e razor, the g2 not controllable. Or go for AI. Im using the maxspect razor 10k, 16k is the best. I didnt even know about kelvin rating, and was given the 10k without knowing. Should have read up more.

I'm using the Razor 300w. No complaint really like it alot. Only problem is i have bracing on top and how i wish i can adjust the position of the led to avoid the bracing.

Good to know that.....My Tank also has the Top bracing,

Hi Bro, Thanks for your suggestion, i goooooooooogled about the AI Hydra Models, Hydra 52 also very nice.

I agree to your point that Razor has only the sunrise and sunset effect, (2 Channels - i dont know what these channels are used for)

Regarding the cost, Razor is around $1200 and Hydra 52 is around $900 per unit, for my 4 feet tank i will need two units of Hydra 52 which is around $1800, i think we need to buy the controllers and the rails/mounting system separate, so all together Hydra52 will cost around $2k, correct me if i am wrong....

The Hydra got the wireless controller, Lighting & passing cloud effects, Moon phase.... seems good....

The price of Hydra 52 is almost double as the Razor 300W..

I am not expert of LED, so i can cant compare these two models, tried to search for the comparison but cant find any.....

From my view with Hydra 52, i only get the extra passing clout effect + Lighting Effects + the Wireless controller.

Another advantage is, if i am upgrading to a bigger tank or downgrading to a smaller tank, i can reuse Hydra 52 by adding/removing the units.

Experts please suggest, which one to choose Razor 300W or AI Hydra 52.

:thanks:

Thanks for the information bro, I also know only very less information about LED, that's why getting the seniors suggestions.

Considering either Razor 300W 16K or AI Hydra 52.

Im also not sure about the kelvin ratings.

Got money go for hydra52. More budget and want something that give the same/similar result razor 300w.

Your corals dun benefits from any of those specisl effects but you may find them cool. Boils down to ur needs.

U can also consider 2x kessil a360WE.

you dont need hydra 52.

its for deeper tanks. if you want to go for hydra52.. hang very high up and you can get the spread but i doubt it will be practical and nice.

hydra and vega should do the job.

also when considering please do remember to do some search on warranty.

Meaning when things go wrong what will happen to your equipment, will there be a replacement? will there be a loan while yours is fix? etc.

by reminding you this does not mean that maxspect or AI local distributor are not reliable, this is just a general reminder because being a consumer myself i often forgot this point until when things breaks down!

hahaha

Yup reliability is very important! Personally my maxspect had some problems before and delightings were quick to fix. As for radions, had a few friends waited for weeks and months just to had their radion fans changed.

You mean Hydra 52 will be overkill for my tank?

Unfortunately i am not able to hang up the LED lights to the ceiling, i prefer to use the rails or other options

Yeah seems like my mind is also towards AI now.

Considering Hydra 52 or Hydra or Vega.

AI allows to add/remove/change single modules, that's also one of my main consideration.
