Most sump tanks are quite quiet . It depends on your first compartment which can be filter socks or wool n return pump . Most noisy sump is due to return pump . So far Eheim is good, Aquabee is not bad , Deltec is decent as well

Bean Animal Over Flow?

Not much being mention in write ups ...

Im using bean animal. Cant hear any noise at all. And its definitely verrrrrrrrry safe. Even if 2 of your siphon is clogged up, the emergency siphon willl take over. No chances of failing unless all 3 is being clogged.

A plus point is coast to coast overflow , which will skim off the oil surface amd gives better light penetration into the tank. Imo every tank should have this overflow (:

For more review , read it up in rc.

to me, the sump creates annoying noises in 2 areas.

The return pump humming and the sound of crashing water from the downpipe from the overflow or whatever you call it.

Mine is an amateur simple setup lah so not much equipment to contribute to sound.

The return pump makes quite a hum IMHO.

Maybe better quality and expensive ones will be more silent? I'm sure there are some in the market.

As for the return pipe.

Play around with the angle of the pipe entering the water level, the height of the pipe from the water level.

You can by PVC pipes from madpetz or for me, I go to the hardware shop in Serangoon north to by pipes of various sizes and play around to find the best remedy to noise pollution.
