Sharing the progress of my new 5 ft tank build in office. Always wanted to try a shallow tank for a change , and here it is.

Since the 10 year old cabinet was still as solid as before, i recycle the old cabinet from a old tank , and remake the main display and sump tank to save some cost as well.

Main tank ; 72" x 30" x 18"

Sump tank; 70" x 28" x 16"

Skimmer : JNS Cone skimmer CO-3

Calcium reactor; reef octopus

Main return; 1 x ehiem 1262 , 1 x jaebo 12000

Chiller; artica 1/2 hp

Lighting; yet to be decided

Rocks; replica rock from madpetz

Regretted not catering a bracing for my tank, so have to custom make one with acrylic in order to mount the light.

Tank still very empty with only some frags from own tank. Keeping it slow and steady

What is your feedback on these replica rocks?

It look better once in the water and doesn't look "fake", the uneven shape provide many place to stick the corals which is pretty nice.

However, i soak it with freshwater for about two week prior to use as it has a rubber smell.

I took a look at it 2 months back, got a concern on its hollow internal which may not get much or any flow within. What do u think?

What maybe you can like me is to do is to drill more small hole in between the replica rock to increase flow in between the rocks.
