Duranx
Skimmer all cleaned up. letting go at 350. If no one taking it will just keep it for future upgrade ( there will always be one right ! ) will throw in the ats for free to the person taking the skimmer. The LIghts have burnt out. SRC Supporter Harlequinmania Posted April 26, 2021 SRC Supporter Share Posted April 26, 2021 Your rock scape remind me of the "Dragon tooth " which i recently saw at Labrador park,, very unique indeed.. Duranx
Though natural sunlight has its own set of problems of algae / diatoms, the appearance of the fish tank under the sunlight is amazing. IMG_0572.MOV

Duranx
After a fair bit of thinking, decided to upgrade my Orphek Atlantik to v2 to the v4. a large part of this was due to the fan based power supply that was in my living room. Always felt rather uncomfortable with children at home and worry about water spilling on it. the new v4 gen2 is a wireless power supply. Felt that the old v2 was otherwise more then enough for my needs. btw with the new v4, and wireless functionality, very cool indeed!! Though I would have preferred the white plate which would have matched my tank and decor.
Duranx
Still trying out the various lighting schedules... will try to watch the brs video tomorrow to titrate my needs. any help from anyone who has one of the v4s? For a mixed reef tank ? Suggestions on settings? IMG_0703.MOV

SRC Member Slimymadness Posted May 10, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted May 10, 2021 Great scape! It def allows much more room for the fishes, now I feel like doing a rescape lol.. My v4 is 11 inches off the water surface. I didn't have space to hang at the recommended 16 inches. My current settings Ch 1 70% Ch 2 90% Ch 3 70% Ch 4 20% Peaks for 7 hours daily. Sps dominant tank and the lights would bleach new additions if not acclimatise properly.. tuning down the red helps with algae alot.. and ch3 is very strong and it bleached corals fast. Hope that helps! Quote I believe there is something out there watching us. Unfortunately, it's the government. - Woody Allen
Duranx
Hey thanks for the suggestions. Will dial down my settings accordingly. never thought about the bleaching possibility. luckily I had enough space for the top of my tank to give that distance and spread. btw my previous v2 is for sale if anyone is keen. All of it is working. Just that one of the fans on the lights is a little noisy. Otherwise no issues. looking for 250.

SRC Member acodestny Posted May 27, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted May 27, 2021 I am a v4 user for close to 2 years....I use their coral colour mode but reduce chn 1 and 4 to abt 40%.4x2.5x2ft... Only run 1 v4 and 1 OR3 blue plus... Nice lights.... If I am not wrong if you like the white look, you can actually move the wrong v4 into your v2 case hahaa! Duranx
Just installed a chaeto reactor. Hopefully my battle with diatoms can be won with this. took out the ats a few weeks ago and since then having an algae bloom! the ats was just creating too much salt spray. having said that the ats was very effective. Despite not having skimming in the tank due to the deltec constantly overflowing for a few weeks, the algae growth was kept in check in the DT. Updated shot of the tank after cleaning, the fish are all hiding !

Nice tank, not sure if u got try before, can put the skimmer on a stand (diy egg crate or bio media blocks) to raise the skimmer and the overflow should significantly reduced. Duranx
Yeah I tried that with the deltec, but finally got limited by the height of the skimmer and the height in the cabinet! it was so high up that I couldn’t remove the skimmer cup easily. Will do one of these days. But my sump is probably one of the most messiest and unorganised sumps around. Since I had gotten a rather cheap tank / cabinet, couldn’t really customise much like the others in this forum.

Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app Thanks man. I was hoping to create one of the many zen looking minimalist reef tanks that exist on the internet these days…likely inspired by planted tanks. To achieve that, needed crystal glass, no bracing and a certain minimum depth of water. Of course each of these factors come with their own problem and limitations. for eg the depth of my tank means that it’s such a pain for me to place corals on the deeper areas easily. No brAcing means that you have to accept a degree of bowing. crystal glass means …well expensive.
Duranx
As what has been mentioned in most online articles, the KH becomes a struggle to maintain over time….looks like I am facing the same problems. Maybe at some stage I would probably have to go with a ca reactor but for now I have decided to increase the dosing of my sodium bicarbonate solution. bought a 10l jerry can and attached it to the last pump on my Jebao doser. hope I can maintain the kh better
Duranx
Today’s kh is 7. So managed to bring the kh up with a few days of 50mls a night dosing. Going to up to 100 mls / night and see the kh trend. Hold can maintain 8-9. But I suspect will be finally dosing around >300 mls a day. In that case a 10l bottle will last me about a month. Duranx
How do you guys know when to harvest from the reactor. Ie know when it’s full. looks the algae /diatoms are receeding after 2 weeks with the reactor… somewhat hopeful !
