do the fishes have long bodies? as in, naturally elongated?

if so, it may be a purple tilefish. and if it is, you'll have problems if you have more boisterous tank folks.

I recently lost one because it decided to jump out of my tank. left with one now only. if I lose this one, I wouldn't get it again. a bit expensive for me. =\

Pic not clear enough to provide accurate identity. If it's tilefish, then try to cover your tank with hood or something...maybe a large pc of egg crate. Their speciality is jumping out of tanks...

Hmm i think its a tilefish.. cos anthias does not look like this leh... but the prob is sometimes it will eat regularly and sometimes it will not eat even for a few days. I noticed this recently only leh... how ah?

tilefish are hard to keep. The last time I bought one for $16 and once I release into the tank, it go "zoom" into the LR, and that was the last I saw the fish. What a way to throw $16 into the ocean.

Also, I heard they are great jumper too. may end up as Ikan billis on the floor.

Hehe yeah.. i agree with you. Damn hard to find them when you release them into the tank. But lucky i got mine to feed on mysis. I got a tall tank hood and i think abit hard for them to jump out of the tank.
