If you are reading this thread carefully, my initial response was made

because I saw a dispute on the names for Ricordia (Ricordea).

If you can read my first post, I am helping you in a way by acknowledge the

name for Ricordia Yuma and at the same time just providing some other

names used to descirbed Ricordia so that other reefers in this SRC can benefit.

(Eg: Flower Mushroom coral, which some LFS or Fish farms may call it, is actually referring to Ricordia Yuma)

Please kindly remove your slander or claim of my liking to use such term,

as my intention here is to provide some resources which hopefully can help

other reefers one way or another.

Please display more "humbleness" in your post, it will be very much

appreciated by others.

:thanks:

Reading meaning between lines or words will see the truth.

Anyway small issue, the commotion has ended or should end here.

Maybe our devotion for Ricordeas has made us into losing our heads.

I am now in the process of experimenting the propagation of one ricordia florida,

I wonder whether it will be successful?

Will post some pics soon.

Hope this pic can make you drool.

Ricordea, perhaps you can share your experience with us :thanks:

1.

Ricordia can be kept in brighter light than the Mushrooms from the group Discosoma.

They do best when place them under VHO lighting in parts of the reef aquarium that receive a good amount of light. You do not want to place these types of corallimorphs too close to the surface if you have Halide lighting.

Ricordia seemed to thrive in older systems with intense lighting and strong water current.

The beautiful Ricordia below has been grown in a 55 gallon with three-40 W bulbs It has two White Actinic bulbs and one Actinic 03 bulb.

2.

The symbiotic algae zooxanthellae hosted within it provide the majority of its nutritional requirements from the light driven process of photosynthesis. It also eats plankton and smaller invertebrates such as crustaceans.

3.

There are many colors.

Colonies of orange Ricordia have different colors of polyps around the outer edge and each colony has different colored mouths.

There are purple and blue ones as well. Will post a blue one pic.

4.

ML selling at $40-$55 per polyp.

Above info mentioned is for Ricordea Florida.

Wow cool info and nice frags you have

These are not my frags.

Pics and Info are from a Ricordea Florida expert research group.

I will be posting my Florida frag pic soon.

Experimenting Propagation of this gem.

I started off with half the ricordea cap.

Then, one end start to grow and join to the other end to make a complete round.

Current Stage, Mouth not evolve yet. Outer edge polyps from the new joint start

to evolve.

Can't wait to see the new mouth. :P
