My most outstanding piece is this small but beautiful staghorn colony.

It's an amazing rich purple upper body, fading to blue and then lavendar green.

Apologies for the photo quality.. but it's an max zoom and hard to photograph under Ushio Blues.

Has anyone managed to keep the sps colors from the shipment 2 weeks ago?

My turquise blue staghorn I bought has turned to brown-green color now under 250W of DE MH light.

My turqoise stag is still turqoise! I have it directly under a 400watt 6500k (it gets light from the 400w BLV Blue also.

My last purchase I got an even brighter turqoise/blue tip stag colony and this one gets blasted by 800watts directly. Really hope it'll retain its colours.

Here's the turquoise from 2 shipments ago,

Possibly if they are acclimatized properly.... :D

Anyway 800watts is nothing compared to natural sunlight over the reefs... some reefers in the states use 1000w lamps.

Some SPS corals are exposed to intense lighting and will not hold their colour under anything less (barring all other factors like water circulation, water quality, correct water parameters etc).

my acro polyp only open under my T5 aquablue...under 20KK 150w MH...didn't open....so strange

Acros are shallow water species. 20,000 K lights are actually meant for deeper water species. Best for Acros would be between 6500K and 10,000K IMO. Anything after 10,000K is for aesthetic purposes...

Always something more important than fish.

my acro polyps open up under 6500k . got rid of it and use my 2x actinic FL temp. now turn yellow in 1 day. 6500k u can keep and they will grow . but they aint gonna colour up fast

anything after 10k is for aesthetic purposes?? i think u are so badly horribly mistaken
