Hi, what do you feed the brains corals with?

Is phytoplankton on alternate day good enough or must you feed them with market prawn once a week as well?

Thanks.

zooplankton and mkt prawn 2 times per week for me...

favia and mooncorals get their fair share too.. ;)

Prec, thanks for replying on the feeding of brains question.

So does it mean phytoplankton with light alone will not be enough?

I was hoping that feeding phyto would suffice since it is so tough to feed with market prawn & zooplankton as these foods are easily snatched away by fishes. :(

I also notice that most tanks show brains placed on sandbed. Do you have problem of sand occasionally landing on it due to water movement or some fishes like goby which tend to displace some sand on it? Guess, once a way, need to use a jet of tank water to clear this sand away.

Rgds.

corals have a way to expel irritating sand on their delicate parts somehow and that's why we need to give them slight to medium current too.. to assist them in ridding of such nonsense..

flood lor? lol... bt ur fishes must be able to clear the bigger portion of food within 5mins if not tank parameters all go haywire or if not u will need a good skimmer for that feeding load..

In response to ambystoma

Not much fishes now in my tank (after getting rid of the damsels).

Thought of buying open brain coral, that's why ask those feeding questions.

Now, my main concern is get my 2 purple anthias to feed. Just bought them last Fri.
