Hi Bro,

I think reef depot sells dc pump and am planning to get one too for myself when my diy plan kick in.....

At the mean time, has anyone use the windscreen car wiper pump before as auto topup? :erm:

yeap someone has done it successfully before...

hey gary, is a relay really necessary? I'm halfway through building one.

if you want to use a cheap power head (240vac) to supply water to your sump... I actually used two relays, one for the low water level and the other relay kills the top-up box if the float sticks in a fill position (preventing flooding the floor).

just get tunze metering pump from rd....

DC controllable.....

won't kill yourself too.....

6v 12v is up to u adjust with any type of dc tranformer with the correct m/amps ratings....

easy DIY and idiot proof....

u can get a box and add on some led lighting to know cutting in or out....

just need to put your brains together, very simple layout....

i will not reply any pm for this advise, already given enough from this post....

cheers

happy DIY

Yea, relay is needed to isolate power supply from float switch and supply for the pump to get the stable current flow to the float switch. Those float switch need stable current to maintain their lifetime. Just my 2 cent knowledge.
