Recommended Posts

For me ah..

1) Yellow Tang

2) Fire goby

3) Purple goby

4) Yellow coral goby

5) Yellow watchman

I would choose these...as with the gobies...low bioload...yellow tang eat the algae in ya tank...

All reef safe. :D

Always something more important than fish.

1) I think 90% of the mature reef tanks out there will have a tang.

They are reef friendly, active swimmer, and relatively large, so you can see them clearly.

2) I also guess that most tanks will have a few damsel leftover from the cycling process (I do, at least, still after 4 years). If you look at them in isolation, they are actually quite nice. They don't lose their color, are active, non-pickey feeders, and don't contribute significantly to the biolad because of their small size.

3) I am personally a sucker for dwarf angels, despite their harmful reputation for corals. I just find their colors extremely interesting. They are also relatively hardly (in an established tank), and are active swimmers.

4) I have always wanted to keep anthias. My wife has always wanted to keep anthias because of their pastel colors (same with the cardinal fishes and fire gobys). But sadly, because of (2) damsels above, they always end up committng suicide.

Hehe..lucky my tank no more damsels..got tired of their aggressive behavior..no more clownfish for me too. Now can keep all da peaceful fish. :yeah:

Btw..you got try square anthias? Those quite big..think maybe can scare the damsels off?

Always something more important than fish.

nowadays sgreef quite quiet, so i'll post my top 6!!!

1. Percula Clowns (True or False doesn't matter) It's a signature fish for a reef tank but that's just my opinion.

2. Blue Tang (Nothing beats the 'Blue' of a healthy hippo)

3. Yellow Tang (It's a wonderful pleasure to see this dude fat and eating like a glut)

4. Lyretail Anthias (My latest favourite. Can't stop watching a pair hiding, leaning in cervises or swimming gracefully)

5. Mandarin Fish (How can this 'helicopter' be left out. Cool dude to have if diet is sustainable)

6. Archilles Tang (no explanation required. Exquisite)

notice my choices is based on a mixed reef of LPS, SPS and Clams.

I think most reefers, esp at the beginning stage, will go for

1) yellow tang

2) flame angel

the dazzling colors on these 2 are hard to beat.

3) damsels (as pospeh mentioned, leftovers from cycling and cannot catch the bugger anymore)

4) gobies and blennies

5) anthias

these are small, peaceful(?), pretty and useful?

My own fav

1) TRIGGERS (all of them.......of course) :P

2) Angels (esp lemon peel, blue-face)

3) Tangs (esp blond naso, kole, yellow)

4) WRASSE (esp those from the thalosamma family)

5) Scarlet Hawkfish

OR Any fish with an attitude or a stupid face.

BUT as u can see, its really difficult to make a decision.............

so many fishes, one small house and only one tank..... haiz :cry2:
