SRC Member boxfish Posted October 15, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 15, 2006 Reefer who has kept royal gramma, can share your experience? This is a description of the fish by marine center: The Royal Gramma is magenta or purple on the front portion of the body, and yellow on the rear portion. it is a hardy, relatively nonaggressive aquarium fish. It will defend a preferred hiding place from intrusion. An ideal fish for the reef aquarium, this durable fish typically does great in any well maintained aquarium. Grammas can be kept in groups in the aquarium, but they should not be overcrowded and should be of varying sizes. Placing one larger fish and several small fish in an aquarium your increasing the chances that you will acquire only one male and several females. Do you find it as hardy? how long has it been in your tank?

SRC Member Earth Posted October 19, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 19, 2006 I got 1 from PR, with me for 8 months, seldom see its full body except its head peeping from the rock looking out for food. When there's food it will swim out... Quote 4x1.5x2.3 home tank 6x2x2.3 office tank

mansiz
Try not to get one if you have very aggressive damsel, they can kill it in less than an hour time. Btw, royal gramma are very aggressive also.
FuEl
Recent shipments in the past few months have been a bad experience. Out of 10 royal grammas purchased on separate occassions, only 1 survived. Acclimatization was done properly and those which actually began feeding on the day itself died within 3 days with gills inverted out. I give up. SRC Member Tanga Posted October 28, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 28, 2006 Tried 2 one survive this time round I make sure the fish is really feeding. It will do better if your tank does'nt have any aggressive fish like dottyback family.
SRC Member chewlaoheng Posted October 28, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted October 28, 2006 that's why I remove all the old fish like boxfish, over grown nemo & fox and a bit aggressive fat lyretail anthias and the KILLER lobster aka majestic shrimp! now only have reef-peaceful fish like mandarin, 2 spot goby, fire goby and a small lyretail. Other than reef safe, reef peaceful is also important ready for another royal gramma read that black cap is aggressive leh anyway royal gramma more beautiful
