SRC Member huskypower75 Posted December 12, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted December 12, 2007 You can add a orange yellow goby http://www.marinedepotlive.com/orange-diam...sh--gobies.html I have one in nano and my sand is white as snow. and fun to watich it scoop the sand in its mouth and spill out clean sand from the back. Good fun fish

SRC Member Zappy Kiwi Posted December 14, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted December 14, 2007 Improve water circulation. Place wavemakers to blow at the areas where a lot of food/dirt/etc gets deposited.
SRC Member zipp86 Posted December 14, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted December 14, 2007 whatever you do, dont use sand sifter starfish cuz they will wipe out ALL life from ur sandbed making it essentially 'dead' with no micro movement in the sand. read wetwebmedia for more info. SRC Member Zappy Kiwi Posted December 17, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted December 17, 2007 I agree with Bro zipp86. Didn't know about this issue until I read it from an article, that sand sifting stars actually consumes the micro-organisms that reside in the sandbed. I have attached the link, do take a look. Moreover, after a few months, you will start to observe that the sand sifting star is getting skinnier, as if it is starving. (This happens to the sand sifting stars in my tank). IMHO, better to leave them in the sea where they can find plenty of micro-organisms in the sea bed. Sand Sifting Stars
