SRC Member Earth Posted September 15, 2008 Author SRC Member Share Posted September 15, 2008 Thanks to FT, Arg and Bio for the encouraging comments... but I am feeling the constraints of the sumpless tank, PO4 seem to shoot up and algae bloomed very easily and I am using 1 litre of rowaphos every month... very heavy to my pockets with the other required additives... Got not enough space for a bigger skimmer and big chaeto/ mangrove plantation to reduce all the bad elements. For those setting up new tanks, nothing beats having a natural source to help in the husbandry of your tank. Hence, it will be essential to set aside a space in your sump for a refugum in your planning... SRC Member Ancelot Posted September 17, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted September 17, 2008 I guess it comes as a price that you can own such a gorgeous tank but have to deal with high phosphate and regular algae bloom. well, dude, you can look into putting greater effort in doing wet skimmate (if you have not done so) and regular water changes with strict feeding regime? Thanks bro for the advice. I tried wet skimming but the skimmer cup always fullhouse and overflow easily hence making the cabinet messy... but guess i have no choice but got to try to clear the cup everyday Quote 4x1.5x2.3 home tank 6x2x2.3 office tank
SRC Member Ancelot Posted September 18, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted September 18, 2008 Oh wells I am sorry about that :/ but I can only think of this plan, unless you forcefully implement a strict regime regarding feeding your fishes. Not easy. but yeah and run some carbon too It helps in keeping water pristine. and PLEASE! QUALITY carbon! I ever got people backfiring me when they bought cheapo carbon and then come say "OI! what lousy advice! now I got more algae blooms!" *as said quality matters! I heard eheim's not bad (:
