hi. here i have some picturs of fish to help u decide. they are all easy fish to care for and are reef safe. the flame angel i just added in case u wanted to try a 50% reef safe chance haha. it is very red and very night though. proces of all the fishes are are well under $30. the most expensive being the royal gramma around $20, and the cheapest being the flame cardinal at less than $5. the flame angel is $35, but i just added for fun coz its red XD. hope i have been of help! copperband butterflyfish is 90% reef safe, but very cheap. below $10 can get if u know where to find. if u find one that is feeding, its quite easy to take care of it (:

anthias are very pink and colourful. but they are hard to feed and require alot of feeding coz they are very active. if u find an anthias that is feeding well, then it will make a great fish!

I'd vote for Royal Gramma, but your tank is of sufficient size for bigger specimens. Perhaps you can also consider

Squirrel Fish

Soldier Fish

Fairy Wrasse

Coral beauty

My recommendations (considering u wan pink/red and not too expensive):

Bartlett group (easiest and hardiest anthias to keep apart from lyretail), price - 3 for $100.

Flame Angel (hardy and really red!), Price - $35

Tomato / Skunk clown, Price - Below $15

Purple / Bicolor pseudochromis, Price - not sure but guess not over $10

Flasher Wrasse - $10

Pearlscale Butterfly (not a difficult butterfly, but not reef-safe)- $20

IMO, don't try any angels if you want 100% reef safe fishes as they can be reef friendly for now and start to "feast' on your priced corals suddenly. The result can be

Butterflies is also a no too as there are usually not reef safe and difficult to keep and some of the so called "reef safe" butterflies are Ex.

Try fairy wrasses, some are some relatively affordable and nice. Like some reefers mentioned, they are "Gold medal" high jumper. Not advisable for tank without hood.

If you are not into nutrient control, you can add 1 or 2 more tangs or the ever feeding anthias! :)

Just my $0.02.

Tom

  • 2 weeks later...

the smaller percula is from my nano tank

transfer into the 322 and add a similar size days later

the new 1 died after a week

weeks later decide to add a bigger perc

they fight immediately but thankfully stop after a day

just added the black pair recently

from what i notice, the smallest 1 is the most aggresive

the big 1 usually heck care haha
