Went to Schuran web, frm the pics, mainly not recirculating ones and in-sump kind which i cannot use as mentioned above tt my water level varies.

(or r dere any in-sump kind skimmer tt doesnt rely on the water level? i tot if it is so, it will only be an external skimmer used in the sump)

as for Reef Octopus, dere is the china made and the australia made, not the same rite?

the logos look different.

www.reefoctopus.com.au vs. www.reefoctopus.com.cn

sry for the qns, noob here. haha.

i suggest u can check out skimz at www.aquamarin.com.sg

There are external models. I saw them at recent aquarama exhibit...the build is pretty good and the performance is comparable to germany brands.

its actually 1 of my choice, however i can only go for the SM110 due to space prob and SM110 is not power enuf for my tank.

so lookin ard for other choices.

anybody has any opinion about hydor performer skimmer to share?

any LFS carry this brand's skimmer?

bros,

can i check, if my skimmer is out of sump type, sump there is 3 compartment, where should i place the feeder pump, and where shld the water outlet from skimmer place?

thanks

imo, as mention above, the water outlet cannot be in the last compartment due to micro bubbles prob,

so i use a reverse method (ie water taken in frm last compartment comes out in 1st compartment.)

tis the best i can tink of, another other methods out dere?

outsump runs a risk for leak. Outsump will need either gravity or feeding pump. If one worries abt water level, can consider getting water top up device. Not only solve the water level issue but also help to stablise the water parameter.

To answer where to place the feeder pump, i think before skimmer output. No point place after skimmer output as it might cos "duplication" in skimming.

For hydor, i think AM might have but seems like few users locally. For skimz, good quality but made in .......so workmanship or QC must be ensured. Anyway, run outsump must be prepared for leak problem.

ya.

btw, i realise 1 thing while searching for a skimmer on the web.

take for example, deltec, H&S, skimz skimmers tt r suitable for <1000L,

the thing they hav in common is the Aquabee 2000/1 pump and probably the skimmer body design jus of different dimensions of ~100mm.

the differences r the price and logo.

if so, i can simply get a cheapo skimmer and change the pump to Aquabee? workable? haha.

guess, 2000/1 max can support till 800L onli....cos i using 1

mine is consider a cheapo skimmer which uses the 2000/1 but it is a in sump model....1 thing is u gt to make sure the spec of the skimmer u buy can support the 2000/1 power....else too much foaming will result in worse skimming...
