hey bros...

those out there who have relatively clean sandbeds,

how do you guys manage to maintain clean sandbeds?

i know one of the ways is to get a sea cucumber to clean up the sand beds...

any other ways???

i dont think vacuuming the sand bed works for me..

my sand is very fine and when i tried a few times, alot of sand got "wasted",

getting sucked up together with those "dirt"

care to share some light here??

abit red algae abit brown algae,

but i'm dosing API Algaefix and the situation improved alot.. haha..

PO4: 0 NO3: less than 10ppm Lights: 10hrs daily

looks abit like shit... abit brownish...

but i dont feed alot,

and i only have 2cleaner shrimps, 1 purple goby and 1 royal gramma in my tank now...

hmmm...

i've one turbo snail with me about 7months already....

it'll eat stuff off the wall and maybe LRs,

but i never find it on the sand..

wonder why...

Actually can get those gravel suction cleaner with a ball valve to control the rate of suction. turn the suction rate real low and your gravel will not get sucked up.

ooo.. where can i get that gravel suction cleaner???

how much does it cost roughly??

i tink he meant e sea cuke kanna suck by wavemaker or mess up ur corals on e sandbed ?

depends what u wan... if its just e surface use chemical n hv a gd flow will b fine... remb another living thing added means another problem...

unless u r toking abt inside e sandbed e nitrates.. then is another issue loh..

Actually is sand dollar easy to care? Was considering it for a while, and came across quite a few feedback online that they don't do well in captivity. My sand sifting starfish is doing very well cleaning my sandbed. With a couple of Nassarius snails to help aerate the sand, my sandbed has gone from totally brown to nice white again :)

i only see turbo snails everywhere...

does CF or any LFS have any stock??

CF seem to have every kinds of LS with them... haha....

Nassa snails. Very good at stirring the sand but ultimately, you'll need to siphon once a while else your sand bed become nitrate factory due to detritus accumulation.

Aquamarin or Ah Beng carries.

Seems so from various feedback. I have 2 sand dollars for >1 yr already.

CF seem to have every kinds of LS with them... haha....

CF got all kinds of snail :) auntie calls the nassarius snails as 'sand snails'. V. fun to watch them during feeding time. :)

i'm having only a 2feet tank...

with quite a number of mushrooms on my sandbed.. haha..

depends they have small ones

I have a large one and 2 small one

you interested If I can find the small one I can pass it to u;)

they need to be fed. feeding on fallen food and detrisus may not enough if you have many of them.

becareful of corals lying on the sand bed. if hungry enough, they can steal food from pratas or brains living on the sand.

becareful of powerful stingers on the sand such as anemones and elegance corals. i have lost 5 nassarius snails because of my huge huge elegance. everytime they crawl around the elegance, they get stung on the foot and die.

what do they need to be fed on???

i dont own any elegance or anemones..

how about bubble stings??

will it be strong enough to kill it?
