MaxSpect Aquarium LED Lighting

Hi, I am from Chennai, India and have a 60 x 24 x 24 reef with LPS and softies. I was going through the maxspect reviews and find this an attractive option. I was wondering if the timers have battery backup as we have many power cuts here or should you have to reprogramme the timer each time after a power cut. Also will 2 x 160 watt units do for my tank to keep sps in the top and what height should be the unit.

Thanks in advance

Ashok

Hey hi Ashok

Welcome to SRC :)

For your 1st question, I believe the timers do have backup battery cause I relocated my whole tank but I did not have to re-set the clock and timers.

As for the second, I would leave to SPS keepers/ Dr Evil to respond.

Yes, there is a backup battery that allows you to keep your settings. However, the DE Lighting folks will be the best people to share on how long it will last. I'd be interested to know too! ^_^

lol let me check with MaxSpect. I think Razali also dunno.

Any reefer using MaxSpec G2 160W or 230W set(for a 4 footer) and willing to allow a home visit to see the light set in action? I'm considering but can't find a LFS that has a display. Willing reefer, pls PM me. Thanks.

true. Had pm the supplier but also never get any reply. Though there are other mode of contacting but think will just give a miss and stick to my T5 until one day where the supplier can answer all my queries satisfactorily. Just wait for interzoo, i think after that, more LED will appear in the market for reefers to choose. Start saving up. : )

Sure can but seems like no reefers is willing to allow a home visit leh sad.gif

bro, it has been only 1 day only since your post.

Not everyone hangs on this forum daily.

Suggestion: there is another thread that list the MaxSpect owners.

Maybe you would like to pm them instead of posting your request here.

let me stir a bit, do we really need to replace led bulb?

many LED claims to last up to 5 years, however, by then, i suppose newer newer generation of bulbs are in the market at competitive price already, so,

1. will the driver still able to support the latest bulbs? not necessarily...

2. will you want to replace with outdated/low lm bulbs? unlikely...

I'm using 2 x 180w for a sps REEF Tank. The results are quite promising despite my parameters(CA & KH) going a bit haywire. But the growth & colour could also be zeovit that I'm using.
