filter media

Hi bros,

Want to find out what type of filter media you're using for your reef tank?

I'm using porous ceramic biological filter media, Activated carbon chemical filter media and mechanical filter sponges. Is this good enough for a reef tank?

I use chemipure only with filter floss,

chucked out all my bioballs, ceramic rings.

Probably going to add live rocks rubbles and chaetos soon

I have tried chemipure. They are effective only for the 1st one to two days..

After which, the effectiveness exponentially decline.

try using other reputable carbon as chemipure is not cheap.

After some readings, i intend to replace them with seachem seagel and purigen in the future... would this be enough?

never used them before so cannot comment on it.

I have tried Pura complete and its quite good. ( a combo of carbon and phosphate remover)

mechanical sponge?... most of them are about the same ..

Try to use a filter sock in your RSM if you can.

highly effective.
