Some sad news... my Elongated Dottyback died. I went out in the afternoon on sat, and came back to find my tank covered with cobweb like strands. Within a short span of 6 hrs, my tank was on the verge of crashing. All the yumas were stressed and closed, GSP retracted, etc. The dottyback was hiding at the bottom of the tank, breathing heavily. I immediately siphoned all the sticky strands and did a water change. Corals looked better, but the dottyback was still stressed. The circle around the eyes are supposed to be shiny golden, but it turned black, as shown in the photo. The next day, it died. I'm not sure what caused this, but I suspect a temperature swing. :rip: Little one...

Took the chance to do a thorough cleaning of the tank. Added 2 Panda gobies. They are so ridiculously tiny, they can get lost in an IQ3! Also added 2 small heads of super suns. They were fragged from the main colony. This is the first time I'm keeping super suns, and I didn't realize their skeleton was so brittle. When I tried to frag with a clipper, it split the tube in halve! Lost 2 heads because of my carelessness. Plenty to learn still in this hobby.

I might just deccom the IQ3 for marine, and prolly go for CRS instead.

Is the ICQ3 expensive? btw is it just a tank only or else? Thanks

"Expensive" is a rather subjective term... some might find it worth it, while others would think its a waste of money, so it really depends on the individual.

It comes with the tank, return pump, all white LED lights and a sponge filter. Market price now should be approx. 6.5 red notes.

Do you need to have skimmer, sump and chiller to run your tank? if I'm not wrong you have change the stock light to what light, can share? Btw, can share where to view this Dymax IQ3 or IQ5. Thanks

You can download the catalog here.

Basically, it is a very small tank with IOS (internal overflow system), so no sump. IMO, it is too small to house a skimmer (not unless you're talking about those that run with an air pump and wooden diffuser), and for such a small tank, running a fan will do. The stock lights are all white LEDs, so I have purchased separately, the marine version of the same type of lights. It is slightly bluish, but definitely worth the swap if you're keeping marine.

IQ5 would be launched prolly end of this year or early next year, according to Dymax's representative.
