SRC Member Ketchup Posted February 8, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted February 8, 2011 helping desi to answer.. the eggcrate is to facilitate the air to cool the tank esp over the weekends. The cover for IQ5 is all sealed up. Also, with the eggcrate you can also still add an autofeeder or fan if you wish to

SRC Member desideria Posted February 11, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 11, 2011 AN FTs to end the week. NEw addition is the mini maxi anemone. Purple firefish dug a hole beneath the main rock and is now constantly in it's home.. only appears every now and then especially when I feed pellets. SRC Member Ketchup Posted February 11, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted February 11, 2011 wow nice anemones, just wondering if the anemone would survive without a chiller They will. We used to keep RBTA with our old 2 ft tank and it is ok. I think as long as temp is around 27-28 shd be fine... if 30+ then prob will die. SRC Member straydum Posted February 15, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted February 15, 2011 maybe you can try shifting the powerhead alittle near the carpet. it'd probably move away and you could direct where it goes quite surprised that the stock lightings are able to keep corals! CFOh
Thanks for the information. But how does you hang the Ice probe ? I thought all ice probe has to drill a hole into the tank or.. u can use egg crate, cut the desire shape and hole to hold it... as long as yr cooling probe in tact with water with good flow shld be fine.. I suggested located the fan @ open area for good ventilation.. otherwise the heat transfer back to tank from environment will make yr iceprobe result insignificant. Cheers. SRC Member desideria Posted February 16, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 16, 2011 Hi Phua, for the ice probe, you can always stick it into the media chamber of the IQ5 IOS section. I think one of the reefers here put a link to how he did it for his IQ3! So if he can stick the COolworkz Ice probe into the IOS of the IQ3 I'm sure we'd have no problems sticking it into the IQ5.. there are a number of places you can get an ice probe. Pet mart @ serangoon, Freshnmarine.... go shop around to find the one/price that suits you. well strady, it's only been a month so for now, all the corals I put in are in my experience pretty hardy and don't really require much light.. I was considering buying another set of LEDS but ketchup was like : ARE YOU NUTS... so.. heck la.. LOL After 1 month of running this IQ5, because of the cool ambient temp of my office and even after the heat of this weekend, I realise I don't need an ice probe but just turn my office fan on and blow it indirectly at the tank on weekends. During Weekdays, the temp of my water can go down as low as .... 22.5!!! which it is right now without the tunze pump and LED on. With everything on, it can go up to 25.5 LOL Quote Cheers, Desi Sheldon (TBBT): A little misunderstanding? Galileo and the Pope had a little misunderstanding... SRC Member desideria Posted February 16, 2011 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 16, 2011 lol yeah the temp in this office is cold but I have a feeling that the digital thermometer is a bit siow also.. I doubt it's THAT LOW but it does give me a gauge of the water temp.. so far everything is doing fine.. the firefish is out and about most of the time and feeding... no other fish will be added in except small frags of corals.
