  1. Hey bro, seems like u been doing your homework. Good choice of equipment bro, personally i feel everything you've chosen will work out well for the tank. I have used the Reef Octopus NW-150 before, that thing works like a beast for me, just make sure you keep the water level constant. For reactors, u can also try DD oceanic reactors, affordable and good built. In terms of lighting, if u are going for LPS and anemone dominant, i feel the T5s will suffice. I have also seen sps tanks running just t5s alone, and they turn out great. T5s also give you more options in terms of bulb colour, and lps looks best under good t5s. If i were you, i would run t5s, supplement with par38 leds if required. 2-300 budget is gonna be quite tight in my opinion. A good quality set of t5s, lets say u run 6 bulbs, will cost about $300-$500. If getting the ATIs, can cost from 700-1000. Alternatively, u can try the china made fixtures.
  2. Thanks for sharing Ashwin 6 mths worth for 10-15 is really cheap
  3. Nice thanks! Yeah, right now using 10k maxspect, should have gotten the 16k, but i guess i will supplement the lighting with t5s. Cheers for the info!
  4. Freshnmarine crystal pro is a DI unit, not a RODI. If looking for just DI, the crystal pro is a good option too. I am using the crystal pro 3stage DI, but with ZeRo resins + carbon. Works very well for me, my TDS reading has been 002 for quite a long time now. Reason for change is the availability and cost of the resins
  5. Haha, Sorry Wolfyie, everyone here like a bro to me. Hard to tell without reading back on thread!
  6. haha, so how long have u been sitting there?
  7. Hi bro, was thinking of adding t5s to suppliment my leds too, can i ask where u got your t5 set from? Looking to put one bulb on each side
  8. Any type of coral / reef safe superglue. Yes coralline can grow over.
  9. Yup, i recommend madpetz RODI. I believe its a home brand. So you are not paying for extra cost for things like shipping etc. Good build and quality. Pop by their shop and u get a good idea.
  10. That is gonna be a memorable video in a long time to come. For sure.
  11. Really enjoyed the timelapsed video, and your 2nd video was very well edited! Good choice of equipment too, i would have gone for the exact same list of equipment. +1 on the lightspread, may be insufficient to cover the full length. How about a video in day time
  12. End of the day, locally caught fish with locally taken seawater with normal filtration system. Dont see anything wrong. If u talking about corals and imported fish, than yes, it may be a problem.
  13. Yup, u can bro. not an issue. Epoxy it down is fine. My tip is to use super glue on both side of the epoxy before u stick it down. Else its not gonna hold in place while curing
  14. I have an ios with the following ---> 1st chamber course filter pad, net of activated carbon, fine filter wool. Followed by bacteria king as bio media 2nd, skimmer and a pump to my external chiller, outlet is T off to my hang on board rowaphos reactor 3rd return pump
  15. Very good pricing for premium zoas! ups!
  16. Really nice bro! Wait till those frags grow out completely. TOTQ!!!!!!!
  17. In terms of life span, i did a search and still didn't get a satisfactory answer. But heres what i concluded : Reason why we switch out old sand or choose to go barebottom is because over the years, the sand traps detritus, which continues to accumulate. Besides that, u don't want your new cured base rocks to be absorbing all the phosphate from the sand. I read many stories of people accidentally stiring up their established 1 or 2 + year old sand bed, and killing everything overnight. Anyway, did some changes to the tank since my nitrates would not move. 1. Sold some sps to cater to the new changes in the tank. Didn't wanna cause any casualty, let others enjoy the coral instead. 2. I removed all the sand and went bare bottom! 3. Removed all the fishes to a new cycled qt tank 4. Removed all the old live rocks and replaced them with new cured and bacteria seeded live rocks 5. Removed coral chips in filter chamber and replaced with Bacteria King media 6. Brand new pump for skimmer 7. Increased the flow rate of the wp25 8. Still dosing Polyplab Reef-Resh as per instructions NO3 now sitting at 20ppm, but i am expecting it to drop further over the week with the new changes. Else all my effort will be in vain! Will post some new pics soon!
  18. I believe one of the reasons is to prevent idiots who buy large colony corals, frag into small pieces and resell them at a higher price.
  19. They can come on liverocks, corals, macroalgae etc etc. MY tank has an ios sump with no refugium, but my tank has tons of it too as i only keep 2 cleaner shrimps with my corals. Fishless system.
  20. Without a photo its hard to say, but 80% certain you should be referring to copepods once again. If they are in your sump, definitely they will make it up to your display tank through the return pump. This is why we mention free food for your fishes. Usually, people cultivate pods in the sump as this is their safe haven, away from constant predators, giving them a chance to multiple and eventually some of it makes it way up to the display tank.
  21. Haha, bro. they are like mysis shrimps. We cultivate them to feed our fishes. What we mean when we say its good, it means now your fishes has a good supply of free food!
  22. Wow!!! That tank looks impressive!!! good workmanship by the looks of the photo! cant wait to see it filled!
  23. Well, rowa can be used both ways bro. But to obtain maximum efficiency out of it, throw it in a reactor. This increases the surface area in contact with the water. So to run a reactor or not, will depend on your budget u willing to spend and if u have the space to accommodate the extra reactor. Got money, got space, why not?
