Medication:- Marine Cure
reeflobang replied to angry's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
I used it once and follow the dosage given... very sure all living parasites died after adding it in. But so did all my live stock - tangs, flame angel, damsels etc etc ..... only my cleaner shrimp and green buttons survived..... I am still reminded of that accident daily as my tank's silicon all turn blue after that incident, still blue today after more than 1 year...... -
Stopped keeping them long time ago as they don't last long in general. My longest was 6 months and it starts to wither and die.... Anyone managed to keep them longer than this?

If you plan to get a plumber to do the job, make sure you refer to those recommended by NTUC or HDB. Tell them clearly what is the fault and HOW are they going to repair it and how much. The rest will rip you clean of your cash. When my mixer leaked, it cost me S$140 for a new one! But I watched how they did it and later repaired my own kitchen tap that was leaking.

Try the magazine section of our public libraries. I have been reading them near my place - Sembawang Sun Plaza Library.

I have tried "Kick Ich" at S$50 per bottle butit does not work..... ich comes back the moment you finished the bottle.... bought two somemore..... That's when I tried my Spectrum and Kent Garlic and it has worked for me the last few outbreaks. One may come again as I just added a PBT into my tank and its definitely infected with Ich.... but somehow I am very confident it will work out well.

Bottom dwellers always die.. why?
reeflobang replied to silverfish's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
My tangs always finish all the pellets before it sinks to the bottom and thus the poor fellows on the "ground floor" has nothing to eat. Try dropping food pellets after lights out - especially shrimps will be able to get them in the dark.... good luck... -
Putting them in a basket will probably make them more stressed as they have no where to hid. Maybe add a wide PVC pipe so that they could go inside when startled. Honestly, it take some amount of luck sometimes..some just refused to eat no matter what......

I have kanna ich on my tangs a few times already.. the last time when I added a new blue tang to an existing group yellow, purple and sailfin tangs. All kanna ich including my flame angel etc. wiithin a week. Did my usual routine - feed twice daily with Spectrum pellet (attached) soaked with Kent Marine garlic. All healed in about a month. But the main thing is that they must be eating them.. any that starts hiding somewhere..... bad news...... But I know others have used Spectrum with mixed results w/o the garlic. Maybe together made the difference.. Spectrum (note that they have two pellet sizes, get the ones that your fishes can swallow them!) can be bought at Pe****t while Se*L**e carries Kent stuff.

Anyone from the petroleum industry want to comment on this remark made by a 20 years veteran from one of the top 3 petrol companies in the world : "don't bother with 95, 98 etc as they are all the same... these are just marketing gimmicks". Words from someone who used to make S$20K a month from one of these companies......

I have 3 x Aquablue and 1 x Actinic Blue (T5s) and the shot was taken with all turned on. Actually bear to cough out S$35 because its quite blue. Was very tempted by another small rock that had a orange and green Floridias... but could not do it.. Today already spent S$750 fot a 17" LCD.... LCK110 still has quite a few pieces of various colours in the show tank near their working table. All placed near the top left section of the tank. -

Just went there this afternoon. Yumas are at S$15 per polyp and Florid**s is at S$35 per poly. My S$35 notes now looks like this... (sorrie.. my camera in macro sucks...) Oh yes, if you see carefully, it has two mouths and the lady actually wanted to count it as two polyps..... -
Cauliflowers Finger (Dendronephthya)
reeflobang replied to kopee's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
They are very difficult to keep in the long run as their survival rate in enclosed tanks are very low. Frankly, I have kept a few and they did not last long. I remembered they need pretty strong currents (also to catch their "micro-food). They will look beautiful when they "stand" but after a while, they will just wither and die. But this is my personal experience. Not sure if other have better luck.... -

Hi All Thanks for compliments.. an excuse to jump into ricordeas and more yumas!!! . Huskiesg - will try to post some pics of my sump and stuff. Mine is not very well laid out though as it was my first sump. I have seen spectacular ones here in SRC. ah^siao - I am using T5 - 3x times Aquablue and 1 x Actinic Blue. But in hindsight, should have just gone into DIY MH 150W instead (but will worry about heat as I don't have any chiller - now is about 28-29 degrees cooled by 2 PC fans). My T5 replacement will be very expensive in the long run - S$50 per tube. Danano - this has been my main tank all the while but I had a 1 feet cube some time back and transferred the livestock and some LR over to the main tank a few months back. Spicyball - my green buttons are my pioneer tank residents - surviving over-treatment of medication and other "incidents" when I was just starting out. Think I got them from T** but its more than 1 year ago. They are really growing since I started on DT.

There's a special paint sold in Home-fix DIY shop that you just need to scrape off the rust (no sanding needed) and just paint directly onto the rusted surface. Average around S$10 for a small can depending on the colour. My wrought iron stand "kanna" rust on some parts so I am fixing it now.

Mine is no longer auto-rotating but anti-rotating...... so save your money. The need to tear it down monthly to clean it is too tedious....
