once a day, once every few days or once a week?

AS often as possible. Evaporation rate is faster if you use fan.

i do it every day. if not my sg will increase bu 0.002 cause i also using fan

It all depends on the size of the tank, the smaller the tanks, the more often to top up.

Also whether using chiller or fan. Fan will need to top up more often.

Lastly depend on the type of tanks, FOWLR tanks less top up.

Do you all prepare a pail of mixed salt water before hand....or mix it when you need it?

Top up with water only. No salt.

Remember: Evaporation does not remove salt from your tank.

every hour, my dosing pump is double as water topup

as the water goes down to certain level. i've put in a float switch to automatically turn on a pump to top up. using up around 500 ml of water everyday on my 4ft tank.

Yep. Realized with nano tank daily top up is absolutley necessary. Just distilled water every night.

Your sg is far too low inless hypo treatment. You should obtain around 1.023 - 1.025. If FOWLR setup 1.021 -1.022 will do but of course depending on the LS's origin. Red sea LS region requies around 1.025-1.026. I'll add extra sea salt ( sg >1.03 - 1.035) and mixed it in seperate pail with wavemaker till fully dissolved and slow dose in till correct SG obtained. Prior to obtain the correct sg, remember to remove 1/5 tank water before you do the wc. Cheers!

Have been told never to use Tap water as it contained alot of chemicals. Worse come to worse is to use those distilled water sold in supermarket to top up. But never top up with tap water.

Go buy a few big bottles of distilled water from supermarket and use for top ups... Avoid tap water at all cost...

bro, if you are keeping fish only tank and hardy fish (damsel, clown), i think tab water (dechlorined) is fine (in Singapore context).

I have tried this and so far so good.
