Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2 The acrylic's for the skimmer! lol! But yes the pond wall is going to be extended 1m above ground as well. There's a few reasons for it; 1) To prevent my 6 month old from accidentally falling in. 2) An extra meter of wall gives me 40% more volume. 3) Deeper pond = lower temperature Quote You can reach me at 98627310

May I ask if you have planned any side viewing section for your pond as there are another 1 plus meter of pond wall to go up? Trust me, I really really want to but I'm not sure how to justify this cost to my shareholders, after all, this is a company project. I'm 40% convinced I can get away with it... though it seems easier to just build a reverse periscope and hang it over the sides, then I can move it around as well. SRC Member allantang Posted November 2, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted November 2, 2012 10cm thick wall snapped like a @#$%ing biscuit. Fortunately it'll be cheap to fix =) so it's just a 1 day setback. Just a thought. Earth moves every now and then. Could this be it that is y it snap? What will be your safety precaution to ensure your tank will not leak?
SRC Member tropic Posted November 2, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted November 2, 2012 Err... How bout Double layer brick wall with cement in between cured ?
SRC Member BFG Posted November 2, 2012 SRC Member Share Posted November 2, 2012 Has the structure been certified to hold that much water xnsdvd? It might push the earth underneath and create some movement which might affect the house structure or the neighbour. Just thinking of safety. SRC Member xnsdvd Posted November 3, 2012 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 3, 2012 Mother nature telling me that I should fill the pond faster... Anyway, on to questions; Why did the wall break? - Actually this one was down to human error. The wall is supposed to retain the backfilled concrete, not support the weight of the water, so when we were filling it up, it should only have been done 2ft at a time. Unfortunately whoever was overseeing it had horrible depth perception and poured 3.5ft of wet concrete at once and broke the wall. Double layer brick wall with cement in between? - Actually that's pretty much what we're doing here except it's just 1 layer of bricks set 1ft away from the earthen wall, then backfilled with concrete. For the above ground section of the wall, it'll be exactly as you suggest. Neighbour how? - That's a big concern and we addressed it by compacting the earth under the pond prior to adding 10cm of hardcore. Then compacted it again with a pneumatic rammer. It's quite impossible to move at this point. Quote You can reach me at 98627310
