The blue tang kena the worst. Deep blue skin colour now looks powdery dull blue.

Even anthias are not spared. One of them even has a pop eye.

A picture of the spot covering...

Just changed 20% water. Salinity went a bit too high. 1.026. Could this remotely be thread cause?

Any medicated food I can feed? Is adding any sort of medicine to food paste helpful?

Or any remedy pls suggest. I'll go down the farm tmr morning to get the necessary. Just narrow down my options

Thanks.

Best method... take out all ur fishes to quarantine... tts if u haf the space and measures to do so...

2nd method... lower abit of ur salinity to mabb 1.023. DO NOT dose anything if u haf coral inside the tank...

do SALT MIX water change every 5 days, not NSW... and pray hard for it...

this is my simple and humble 2cents worth... works for me and i hope it will does for u...

cheers..

Was reading up disease treatment in RC just..

Am wondering if this is marine velvet?

Thanks for all the advice above.

Will be looking to reduce sg tmr via DI water change..

Will also see if I can get a uv set to run the water through..

Thanks..

had this once where my whole population of fishes got ich (also from a PBT bought from CF!)

i ran UV lights (big wattage)...dose Aquapharm Cure ich (makes the water blue but at least i did not lose any corals). took me about 2 weeks to go back to normal but still lost a flameback, a adult ABT but my YT,PT,Flame, clowns and flamehawk survived...

i never fiddle with hyposalinity etc.. and also did my regular water change.

expensive lession for me after which i decided not to touch PBT ever even though the temptation is great!

you have to have the mindset that prepare for a wipeout and whoever survived is a bonus.........

looks like 2nd wave came in. U have a few choices depending on how xtreme u wan to go.

1) water change everyday, pray hard

2) catch all fishes out and use copper/hypo in a QT.

Dont waste money on reef safe medi, they dont work. If this is velvet, every min counts, velvet kill damn fast, fast enough to wipe out all your fishes in 2 days.

Casualties.

Lost a fat Watanabei angel, and one of the smaller blue eye lyretail anthias.

Changed 10% water to reduce sg to 1.022. Another 10% tmr, while minting sg at 1.021.

Dosed "It's Clear" to bind any free swimming parasites.

Will be dosing "Cure Ich" in 12 hours.

*Thanks bro kkk121 for these above 2 items in such a short notice. Owe you one.

Running a 9W UV to kill the persistent ones. Of course the good nitrifying bacteria will be killed along the way too. Sigh, that's what chemotherapy does to human body cells too.

Hope casualty list will stop growing.

Update you guys along the way.

all the best. last time i was running a 9w UV too. put and never put like no different. UV i think is more of a prevention than cure. also forget where i read up that UV need bigger and higher watts to work. those 9w ones are just for show. lol

apart from the advices given, you can try to lower yr tank temperature, many activities will slow down..then let your other efforts improve the water.

Skimmer : BK SM200 with waste collector

Return Pumps : Red Dragon 6m3 and Ehiem 1262

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes

Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator

External Monitor : American Pinpoint pH and Temp. Monitor for main tank and GHL Profilux Controller to measure temp, pH, Redox

Ozonizer : Sander C50

UV : Corallife 6x

A little update.

Casualty list got longer.

5 anthias

Juvenile Atlantic blue tang

Watanabei angel

Mandarin fish

And of course, the powder blue tang.

Damn you, velvet!!

Still alive-

Clownfish pair

Firefish

Tailspot blenny

Blue tang

Alpha male blue eye anthias

Really heartache to see deaths.

So I tore apart the rockscape.

Caught all the remaining fish.

Administer cure ich in a separate tank.

Main tank is now fishless. Will remain so for 4 weeks at least.

Setting up a quarantine tank. All new fish has to go through QT for 4 weeks before intro from now on.

I can also start looking out for fish as soon as the QT is up and running.

Will be building a multi-independent-compartment QT to cut down waiting time.

Thanks for all the advice and concern.

I will come back stronger and wiser.

Just walked out of Atlantic Glass.

Custom built a above mentioned multi-segment-tank for quarantine of new fishes.

Hands itchy already. Already planning my new fish list now to get myself out of this depressive mood..

Bwahaha. .

Haha got that planned out already.

The tank will have 3 compartments.

Height is standard at 12".

Compartments 1 & 2 are 6" x 12" each.

Compartment 3 is a 1' cube.

Once the first rounds of QT done, the 3rd compartment will be cycled properly and converted to a species tank, supported with a simple HOB skimmer. Not decided yet, but likely a predator tank -lionfish or frogfish.

The compartments 1 & 2 will be left empty for QT as and when I buy new fish..

depending on the size of the fish, u can buy those plastic toyo container. with a HOB, some filter media, your QT is ready for operation. after QT, can use the container to store your marine stuff. 2 in 1. when the need come 1 day, can use back.

in reefing, there's is never the word full. if tank is full, u will find the ugliest fish to sell and add the fish u want.
