I have been dreaming of this day

Recommended Posts

I have been dreaming of this day and I guess finally it is happening soon... Not that soon... But I think I can take a year to do planning.....

I am moving house next year and I am coming back reefing. Feel so good to find back janet, and Steve from aquamarine, ken from madpetz, diehard friends like reef zzz, fishtalk1517, Kennethk, solo77 and sunny03.... It's just wonderful that reefing bring me to know so many friends. Sitting down at koufu chitchat bring me back so many memories.

But I'm slightly outdated already.

Need some help here as I am doing research.

Just assuming you have a budget of about 20k to restart a tank from scratch

What kinda of equipment will you buy and piece them together?

And having to keep SPS in mind.

Lighting

Skimmer

Monitor and controller

Reactor

Return pump

Wavemaker

I would choose Deltec SC 2560 as skimmer. Just a personal preference for skimmer.

Your choice of the equipment will help me in my decision.

Thanks a lot and have fun just choosing the equipment.

One lesson I learn from reefing: Patience

2x1.5x1.5 tank

Lighting: AI hydra 52HD

Skimmer: Deltec SC 1455

Reactor: Minimax; rowaphos

Skimz  ; NP biopellets

Wave Maker: MP 40 WQD

Return pump: Eheim 1262

Chiller: Arctica 1/10 hp

sounds like a big project! with 20k to spare, you can get one of the best equipments out there, of course have to depend on the tank size.. definitely looking forward!

SGD 20K not enough for a Centropyge boylei. But is enough for a grand tank excluding the livestock...

3x GHL mitras would be perfect! Or 3x 120w razor.
That's a big difference in price tag.

Another option, you can look for Victor from Iwarna.

He can advice on best equipments for your budget. The price of the equipments are also quite competitive.

What I really like is that he is very up front on all the costs and helpful as well as knowledgable. He will advise on what is practical and what is not including where you place the tank.
