sunnymau
I think, if now with Chaeto and the nitrate and phosphate are still high, vinegar dosing is okay up to the level low enough where the algae and bacteria are competing for the "scarce" nutrient then either one will slow down growth or both will slowdown. Probably just keep monitoring, and if vinegar is successful, Chaeto is no more needed. Chaeto growth consumes Calcium like crazy including trace elements. My personal opinion is that if vinegar dosing is successful then It is more cost saving to remove Chaeto. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD I am a vinegar believer too. I have been dosing venigar to coming 1year plus and the result is very positive.like bro solasido mentioned. When venigar dosing is sucessful, the growth of algea will slow down significantly. My cheato has grown really slow and thin due to the low nutrient. Best part is that i oonly scrub my dt glass once a week, and i feed like very heavily.i realised when i feed heavily, not only the fishes are pump up and happy, both lps and sps are responding well too. Btw i have very high bio load, total of 9 fishes in a 322 with big tangs and anthias. Hope u will a positive result with vinegar, and it is really cheap compare to branded product!!!! Invy Ng
Would really like to know the outcome of your vinegar dosing. I'm having a mix reef tank and have been adding sps. Didn't want to go with cheato as it consumes calcium and takes up space in sump tank.
