SRC Member Clement Chen Posted April 8, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 8, 2014 Hi I have a blue milli that is becoming botak at the bottom, just today saw white stringy stuff coming out from it. Can anybody advise? I have shifted to a low flow and less light area. I only started dosing iodine 2 days ago, but has been turning botak for quite some time. Stringy stuff is new. Tank parameters are as follows Calcium: 480 KH: 9dKH Nitrate: Undetectable on salifert (Gives a very light shade of pink when looked thru the side) Phosphate: Undetectable on salifert (Gives a very faint tint of blue hardy can notice it) MG: 1450 Dosing food grade calcium and kh. SRC Member james72 Posted April 8, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 8, 2014 Tank parameters can be perfect, but if its not matured enough, sps can still die. That's why alot of good advises given are "patience". SRC Member youdontnowm Posted April 8, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted April 8, 2014 Very common for sps polyp not opening at the base as light is hardly able to reach there. Your blue millie very brown . Move up to higher light and bring calcium down slowly to 400-440 will be better. SRC Member Clement Chen Posted April 8, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 8, 2014 It was this colour when i got it. trying to colour it up. That is the best spot with the most light, maybe might be due to the flow, too direct Quote Clem's Clam Corner (Decommed) 60cm x 40cm x 30cm Tank Nano tank reboot v2.
Admiraltian
Among red, green and blue milles, blue Mille r the hardest to keep as they require stronger lightings compared to red and green. As advised by others u can try relocate to higher light spot. Too high calcium levels can also stunned sps pe from opening well. honkit
ClementC, Are you dosing your additives manually or with an auto dosing pump?
