comments needed on my skimmer plan

is it a venturi driven ? The inner tube is kind of short. And what is that inverted V on top of the inner tube ?

Bubble will gateher at the top of the inverted V and turn into a big air pocket and all the bubbles that comes out of the venturi pump will break into the big bubble and result will be......

Dont get the diagram on the pump side. where is your water coming in?? both the input and output draws water??

What bout the height of the chamber and riser?? will affect the performance alot.

If the venturi is place on the output of the pump, you need to get a good venturi valvle inorder for the bubbles to be sufficient numbers to be effect. like mazze... or something like that, will be quite expensive.

5. Foam is one issue and so is swirling water.

If you have thick foam and its swirling, you will have a good skimmer.

sorry guys, i forgot to add the water output valve.

i understand that a big bubble will form at the inverted V.

what about i change that to a V shape? i just want the bubbles to swirl in the tube and then mix around with the water outside the tube for maximum contact time.

btw, TL what is the buffer you have added in the diagram? i do not seem to understand it.

AT, you mentioned about thick foam and swirling water will make a good skimmer. will it help if i enlarge the tube? i have this idea of modifying a venturi valve to have two air input tubes . will that increase the number of bubbles made? FYI, i am intending to blast the skimmer with a 5000l/h pump. is it enough to generate a thick froth?

If anyone has any better ideas, please feel free to use my diagram or explain it in your post.

If you plan to use such a big pump, why not go for a injection method for producing the foam/bubbles??

Instead of a venturi valvle. Unless you get a good venturi valve from overseas that produce a good air/water/bubbles mix, how you gonna get the consistant and fine bubbles you require in large numbers?

Plus a good venturi valve dont come cheap. ranging from US$50-100+

Cool. what the riser made from?? the taper make it look like a coke bottle! ke ke.... nice. But what you using as venturi??

Think the main thing bout skimmer is how the bubbles is created. To get as many and as much as you can and to make it stay in the water for as long as you can. so that is the most important part. a H&S would be just a normal skimmer if you take away the needle wheel and the beckett would be useless without the foam nozzle/jet.

the buffer is just a piece acting as a seperator preventing bubbles from escaping through the outlet.

so i have decided on using this design and try out how it works. considering that a weipro could produce kopi with a venturi.

i was thinking about adding more airline input tubes into the venturi.

just asking whether it will produce more bubbles or just worsen it?

hey bro, the venturi part can be simplified....attached is an example of my venturi...although ultimately my skimmer didn't work but my venturi did a very good job
