SRC Member typrobin Posted June 22, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted June 22, 2004 i think the fact that it saves electricity and that it helps lenghten bulb lifespend is only hear-say...dun really think it is proven.... SRC Member tineng Posted June 23, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted June 23, 2004 i even read from somewhere that electronic ballast seems to underdrive the lamp.....which might explain some of the energy saving and extending the life of the bulb.... SRC Member Jimng Posted June 23, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 23, 2004 Does any one in Singapore had experience using MH E-Ballast? -Does it really underdrive the lamp? -Saves electricity (Energy efficient)? -Lengthen lamp life? Please share. Quote My Tank Thread Part I
SRC Member typrobin Posted June 23, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted June 23, 2004 i really doubt that it will safe electricity without underdriving it....150W is required to burn the MH bulb...if the E-ballast emits 140W and safe 10W...then the bulb will not be running efficiently... SRC Member seareefer Posted June 26, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted June 26, 2004 i have been using one By Osram PTU 150 Very good as my bulb still mantains its color after nine months And no flicking when igniting, thus extending the buld life. SRC Member Plenum Posted July 2, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted July 2, 2004 I have a Atman 150 W MH and would like to upgrade it to 250 or 400. Can I just change the ballast and the bulb or other fixtures involved???
SRC Member tigershark Posted July 2, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted July 2, 2004 e ballast can save more electricity not becaused it runs the bulb with less electricity.... it save more becaused it create a more stable/consistant output to the bulb. normal ballast consume more electricity becaused a lot of power was converted to heat....
