Recommended Posts

Hi guys.....

i currently have a just cycled finished 2ft tank....... had no hair algae problems until i added in 4 small clownfishes........

now my tank has quite a bit of rampant growing of hair algae on the tank walls especially.........

Anyone any suggestions to getting rid of it??

Snails come to mind right away.

I thought snails only would eat those diatoms algae or something like that??

Anyway i wont mind giving a try to snails........

was thinking of those that are regularly sold at ReB*rn... can those do??

or anyone got a nice pic of a useful snail??

Will they increase my bio load to beyond acceptable levels??

What about those algae on the surface of the sand... :thanks:

If it is diatom, they tend to be self-limiting. Snails rarely venture on to the sand bed.

If it is slimy brown or red, then there's nothing much that will eat that.

Lawnmower blenny does the job well. but some people claim it dont even touch their hair algae and instead chooses to starve.See the attitude of the fish. mine was keeping tank clean everyday until an accident involving it and a powerhead which resulted in my first one eyed blenny. 2 weeks later he went back into the Powerhead and well....
