help - star polys does not open!

i have bought a star polys for a week already.

when i 1st saw it in the shop, the flowers all opened, but when i

bring it home, it only opened a few for the last one week.

initially, i had placed it in a higher level, but i have shifted to the bottom

level.

can i know what are the factors which will affect the star polys & caused

it not to open?

i have placed the star polys at lower level. is this correct?

also, does it require strong or low water current?

pls help!

Bro, i believed u r unaware tat u hav posted in the wrong section. U can contact the mods to help u move it to the appropriate section.

this is quite a hardy coral to me

current or no current it will still open if water condition is ok....

looks healthy from your photo...maybe don't move it anymore and wait ....

I have one and place them at higher level which I find it open nicer.

based on my own experience, it will takes at least a week to open fully. also place it higher, best near to your overflow. No direct powerhead blowing at it. make sure it sits firmly on yr base rock. yr pcs looks very light with little rocks attached to it. once u place it at the best position, dun move/touch it anymore. it will take a few days for it to open fully.

btw, congra, u got yrself a very nice pcs of green star polyps.

thks. now i have placed at bottom level. will not move it again.

i realised that a gentle touch will cause them to close up again.

there is one thing which i am puzzled.

why does the star polys looked covered with "dust-like cobwebs"?

is this normal? or my water is affecting it?

Strontium, Trace Elements ,iodide (twice a week less than 5ml for 2ft tank)

Mg and Cal once a week only.

Daily dose of DT (during night only and off 1hr return pump to ensure it stay at main tank)

For lighting I am only using 55w PL

then i decide to do water change .... immediately after the water .... all open liao ....

brush off the debris collected on top of them. might be one reason why it dont open up. i think i also see some cyano at the top right corner of the pic.. check ur parameters.

DT - Live phytoplankton (can't remember the price)

I also uses Auuatim - this is ex (will stop using when finishes) $20+

now have a bottle of Aquaz phytoplankton (red bottle cap) yet to start using $10
