SRC Member akahoshi Posted November 6, 2005 SRC Member Share Posted November 6, 2005 Few differences are, there is a black spot on the dorsal fin of the royal gramma, also the coloring of the royal gramma's purple fades off into the yellow, while the bi-color dottyback has two definite colors that don't fade in to each other. Lastly there is a black stripe across the face of a royal but none on the dottyback. As for the great difference in pricing.. A bicolor dottyback cost about $5, while a Royal Gramma is about $35. In order to put a definition of the Onyx (assuming what RC mentioned is the acceptable universal definition) then i suppose the definition of the True percs for that comparison must be exacting. What the purpose of this thread intend is to identify and put consumers in teh position of awareness so that a more informed decision can be made prior to purchases. It is easy to always to put in the sentence "willing buyer, willing seller" but do take note and be warned against exploitation.
