Possible. But you are better off using T5 for such a tiny tank. The heat from a MH is no joke and temp fluctuations with such a small water volume could be fatal unless you have a good chiller operating fast enough to cope with the heat.

Actually, for 1 foot, it's not possible to use T5. You will be better off with MH. A MH reflector is about 1' in size anyway.

the light from the MH bounces of the reflector and ends up on the floor beside it... result... waste of light!... unless u put your MH very close to your tank but temp would increase and u will not have space at the top to do maintenance...
