Hey guys.. I just wanted to share a piece of news about my Mandarin Fish.. Now I know how many people say that Mandarin Fishes will only accept live copepods as food but after keeping him for a few weeks, yesterday I saw it experimenting frozen brine shrimp and it liked it!! It now is eating frozen brine and mysis shrimps and I am so so happy!!! I dunno how often this happens but just a piece of news I wanted to share!!

IMO...the requirements for keeping a mandarin are ...

1) tank with good coralline growth (to simulate ambient environment)

2) mature tank or at least half a year of generating

3) non-blennies tank (some will fight with them for copepods...)

4) tank with copepods growth(to start them eating...) then it will be

easier to be 'weaned' onto other diet...

5) no existing mandarin in the tank unless it is a paired one...

6) no different species of them...eg..dun mix the spendiculus one

with the picturesque(hope I got the spelling right... :P ) I mean

the 'dots' ones cannot be mixed with the 'curvy' ones... :)

This is all I can think of for the time being... :)

Yeah my Mandarin is a lil slow too but it does always get alot of frozen food cause my tank not many fish..

I haven't tried feeding it dried food but would it take?

And ermm.. My tank has all the required specs except abundant corraline growth.. Is it ok? My Mandarin's been happy in my tank for months already..
