Well, to comfort you, cats have nine lives you know. :D

But seriously, I have seen some amazing things myself: When I was still studying in JC (I know, that is eons ago), I have to wake up very early to catch the bus to school. The thing is while I was waiting for the bus at the bus stop, I saw this little kitten, playing behind the wheels of a van delivering stuff. Finishing the job, the driver went into the van and reverse the van! It ran over the kitten.

Here is the amazing part: the kitten staggered for 2 or 3 steps, and then just walked off, as though nothing has happened. I would have expected the kitten to be squashed, but it did not.

Ok, where was I in this whole thing? I was too dazed and sleepy to stop the driver. Well, I used to study at a very far JC, so I always woke up obscenely early to catch the bus. The fact is that I am almost always half dazed every morning, but that day, the event really shoke me up.

I called my girlfriend the first thing and just cried whilst driving home. =(

I tried sleeping but. the sound. still rang in my ears. =(

AT. dustmites are one matter. you don't have a SPCA association to dustmites or a dustmites lovers association. I'm a self confessed animal lover, especially towards dogs and cats. and. =(

talking to my ex now on MSN and her avatar is a cat. and it just made me cry again. =(

ozy...

I doubt so. I could feel my car run over it. two wheels. exactly two wheels

=(

Come on man, you DIDN'T see it!!!

It was an accident.... take it easy. I love animals too... many of us do. I don't know how to console you... I'm lost too.

Coz I was thinking if anyone ran over my dog... I would have beaten him to a pulp. Yet, if it was an accident.... :(

1. Well, the most important question is why you ran over the cat.

Did you do it on purpose? If not, you probably ran over it by accident. Its a circumstance which is beyond your control.

2. What was the cat doing on the road?

Even if you didn't hit it, someone else would have! :pinch:

3. What do you want to do about it?

Does thinking about it the whole night, missing sleep and then getting your ###### kicked by your boss tomorrow help in anyway to bring the cat back to life? If not, what can?

The obvious answer is NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

So what? Lesson learnt, move on. Be more careful in future.

4. How do you live with it?

There are so many cats, dogs, birds even RATS being run over by cars everyday, in Singapore itself. Surely when you see the remains on the road, you'd be reminded of this unfortunate event... but youneed to always remember 1. and 3. Because 3. will prevent future similar occurrences.

Finally, if it is any consolation, you're in a much better position compared to the lady who brought SARS into Singapore. She killed her parents and Pastor (God bless their souls)... and nearly did so for her grandmother and brother... but she has learnt to live with it becuase there is just nothing she can do to help it. And we are not helping when media talks about SARS, the Heros and those who didn't survive still, everyday.

In all things, be thankful, theres someone else in a worse situation.

Have a good night!

I'm not crying for the chicken I just ate. :whistle

Shit happens (for the cat). Avoiding animals on the road is one of the top causes of accidents.

I tend to disagree.

Ask yourself, how fast were you travelling at that time ? IS it a neighbourhood road or expressway?

And what would cat do on a expressway ?

You spoke of another car tailgating, would you have avoided the accident if you have initially give way ? Or if you have time to give way?

Anyhow, it has happened. Just treat it as a lesson and learn something from there.

Move on mate. :)

I ran over a cat just now on my way back from Marine Life. =(

My heart is with you. I lost my cat who was with me for 17yrs. She had kidney failure and diabetes and we had to put her down because her skin was rotting and my mom did not want to see her suffer anymore. I still missed her a lot. Better not keep anymore pet cos when you loose them you feel so sad especially when they grew up with you.

Don't feel too bad about it if it wasn't intentional.

I had ran over a cat too.... and my is even worse. I actually saw the cat which is sitting at the centre of a 2 way lane. As it was facing to the other direction, i jus drove off...

When my car is coming very near to the cat, it probably heard a car is coming and it dash towards my direction....argh.....den its too late, I look at my rear mirror...it was struggling....the scene had haunted me for days..........

so, cool terrenceansimon.......its jus a freak accident. ;)

u called ur gf and cried... dude.Im not going to be polite and cover up reality with encouragement. u need psychiatric help.

I am mean.. because i care.

if it wasnt on purpose. U shouldnt feel bad.it wasnt your fault. if it was on purpose. u shouldnt feel bad either, you should feel happy u accomplished ur goal.Although u will be burning in hell for killing a non human animal for purposes other than food or defence .

Win win situation for you. be happy.

what is wrong with calling my girlfriend and crying? ... I'm a pure animal lover and killing, be it intentional culling or unintentional road kills, I still feel for it a 101%. the point is a life was still lost because of something that could have been avoided given the proper circumstance. blame me and my upbringing for having such feelings regarding all sorts of breathing things, with the exception of cockroaches. just because I did that doesn't warrant the need for psychiatric treatment.

to some reefer here. I was driving at a whopping 55/60km/h. I was checking my speedo when a car was tailgating me. now. I was on the left lane, and a car was tailgating me at that ridiculous speed. probably due to the fact that there was a car beside him, I wouldn't know. or maybe he/she needed to turn left into one of his apartments.

I thought of it whilst watching Man Utd play Stuggart. I came out with the excuse that

1) I was at the wrong place at the wrong time in the wrong machine.

2) the cat was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

aiyah. I've gotten over it. I think its the initial shock that overwhelmed me, thats all. I've hit a bird before. it was taking flight from the extreme left lane at ECP, and flew across. I was accelerating up to 90 as I came out from a filter lane. bird hit windscreen, bird came down, and flew off again. or so my friend said as he turned his head to take a look.

I've avoided a dog on KJE before at 3am in the morning. don't be surprised. (=

i almost have head on collision with an egret the other day on a expressway travelling in excess of 80kph. Lucky the bird pull upin time.... if not... not only my windscreen crack, the bird would properly be not bird anymore....

bottom line, just excercise caution when driving. save your life and others too be it human or non-human.

have a suggestion for you. Tell your boss u r in trauma n need a day off .
