Aquamarin and GO for me. That's the only 2 places that my kids would want to accompany me. If Pasir Ris, they would complain too much.

And I have to bring them, coz if I buy new stuffs and CFO ask, I just say your kids want them.

Humm.....this is a good reason to buy LS. Let be try now effective with my CFO.

How come nobody talk about RB?

Being my first marine LFS, I think it’s one of the better places to visit often in terms of variety, price, and location.

In my opinion:

Looking for fish?

Commonly known fishes like blue/brown tang, clownfishes, powder tangs etc

Visit farms.

If not, go RB or AM.

VERY HEALTHY commonly known fishes like blue/brown tang, clownfishes, powder tangs etc

Visit SL.

Uncommon fishes or fishes from certain place only like yellow tang, purple tang, sohal tang

Look out for shipment info in SGREEF.

Looking for coral?

Common corals like hammer family, brains, softies etc

Visit farms.

If not, go RB.

ANY LPS, SPS, Softies, EXOTIC as well as HEALTHY

Visit GO.

Others

Look out for shipment info in SGREEF.

Looking for shrimps and cleaning crew?

HEALTHY & BIG cleaner or blood shrimps

Visit SL.

Other kinds of shrimps

Visit CF or AB.

If not, look out for shipment info in SGREEF.

Cleaning crew

Visit CF, farms.

If not, AM.

Looking for miscellaneous such as food, chemicals?

Visit anywhere you are comfortable with (depends on brand as well).

If not, look out for promotion info in SGREEF.

Looking for equipments?

Recce from the net, figure out what brand you want.

Some people even say urine also can ... cause all you want is ammonia....

Can use 25% ammonia hydroxide(25% ammonia concetration with 75% water) and cycle? will it be much faster? Just curious, cos my company uses this and maybe can take some sample , but it is very pungent. Why need ammonia to cycle tank?

I think it is better to use an organic and biological source. Decaying organisms work best, cos what you want to achieve by cycling the tank is to kick start the biological process of breaking down waste products in the system, by feeding the bacteria that performs this job.

What you want is organic waste. People like to use prawn meat because

1. It is readily available.

2. Rots quickly

3. Excess can be easily removed.

You can also throw in fish food, fish waste, etc.

I cycled my current tank with a dead worm (fw soak) from my old tank ....

anyway for a reef tank. A suitable range would be between 24 - 28 dC

for FOWLR should keep around 28 - 30 dC

around 27 will be ideal.

yeah...if u can maintain between 26-27 is the best...corals love cooler temp and their colours will be nicer...

Roger, do note that there are some corals and LS which requires a lower temperature then the "recommended" level. Should you be unsure about the temperature requirements, do check it out before your purchase yeah? =]

the temperature needed for each fish/corals is also stated,

you've to however convert it from F to degree C

hi navyseal. welcome to SRC. Sea Life is at balestier, you can find out the exact location by going to the LFS update thread. There is a street directory there.

Yes, the marine fish farm is called T95. It is also located in the street directory
