  1. Love how clean your sump looks Bro .. If u trying to create a deep sand bed in your refuge .. I dun think it's deep enough.
  2. That's fast! I'm not even home yet. No worries they are taking up space anyways and my tank is just too small. Hope they help and many thanks for ur frag too
  3. Can get those wheels meant for flower pots from those flower shops
  4. Hmm.. IQ5 might not have many skimmer options. My take will be if I can't squeeze in a good skimmer, I rather not put any skimmer. So maybe u can consider good hang-on skimmers that would hang from the back portion of your tank. Hmm.. U can also consider getting a lump of cheato and throwing it at the back compartment. As the cheato grow, they will remove nitrate. And it also gives a safe place for pods (good food for picky eaters like mandrain fishes) to grow. U might need an additional hang-on white light (cheap ones will do. Don't even need to be LED. They dun need fancy lights to flourish) It will be good to have a mixture of things in your IOS. So think carefully what to mix with what Afterall.. That's why the IOS is segmented out into different sections.
  5. Madpetz is a local shop. If they have online should be able to find at their shop too
  6. That's why we always put filter wool in the compartment before the biomedia.
  7. Hmm.. As for the replacement for the coral chips and bioballs. U can consider MarinePure Cermedia cubes, BioHome or BacteriaKing. All these can be used for as long as u want without needin to be replaced. Biopellets XL is also another good option. Unlike the normal biopellets, they dun need to be placed in a reactor to have the same benefits. The downside though is that u need to replace it after some time.
  8. I think what Quas meant was that if the chiller is not powerful enough, it will run for a longer period of time and kick in more often. This will result in way higher electricity bills. I used to run a just nice chiller and it runs 24 hours just to keep my tank 2 degrees below room temperature. Can imagine the electricity bill
  9. Madpetz have 50L ones. For smaller ones u can try the shop houses behind sungei road. Might want to consider round containers with lockable lids at Toyogo.
  10. Just wondering .. Are black Caribsea sand (much bigger then fine beach sand) on for these Gobys?
  11. Hmm.. Bacter7 effect won't be so quick. Would need a few weeks to see the effect. Might want to carry out water changes weekly to maintain the tank while your bacteria populate
  12. Nanyang Seaview will have Can try calling Madpetz too
  13. I got only 2 medium pieces to spare. Bought more then I needed. If u stay around yck/amk then it would be convenient for u to collect. I dun mind giving it to u.
  14. Contrary to that, the higher the temperature the better. Higher temperature = faster decomposition of the source of ammonia you introduce to your tank. It might also increase the metabolism of the bacteria in your tank, helping them multiply faster (heard this from a few LFS).
  15. One major factor would be the material used for heat transfer within the chiller. There's also the insulation quality of the chiller which affects how outside temperature can affect the efficiency of the chiller. There's also the overall build quality which is crucial in ensuring maximum heat is lost with the least amount of power. Other then these, on the user end we also have to ensure that the chiller is well ventilated and nothing is blocking it's intake/output air vents.
  16. Love how spacious your sump is Hmm.. What Skimmer are u using? Seems a little small to me. If u want to add biopellets, add it into the same compartment as your skimmer. The output of the reactor should be in the same compartment as the skimmer. Are those Black bioballs? I would personally prefer to use fully ceremic/sintered glass biomedia. Maybe can slowly replace the bioballs with either of the biofilters I mentioned above. (Do not change all at once. Your bacteria need time to grow in the new media so leave the old ones there to sustain the tank while the new ones cultivates) *I think Bacteria King doesn't allow for the cultivation of anaerobic bacteria capable of reducing Nitrates. Bros correct me if I'm wrong. Can try dosing Bacteria as well. There's Bacter7 that I'm using which I find not too bad
  17. It's good to see that both your Ammonia and Nitrite are zero since these are the 2 most dangerous things to our fishes. Yups you are right about your Nitrate being too high. Usually we try and keep it below 50. In your tank, there should already be many organisms that are utilizing your nitrates at the moment. This includes Algae and Diatoms. Biopellets is currently one of the most popular way of reducing nitrates as it is fuss free and relatively cheap compared to other chemical filtration methods. Also ensure that u have enough anaerobic zones in either your sump (bio filter media like Biohome/Bacteria King/Marinepure Cermedia/deep sand bed) or your tank (life rocks). This will allow bacteria that changes Nitrate to Nitrogen to grow. If possible, u can also keep macro algae in a section of your sump (if it allows) and have a separate light set (cheap one will do) for it. The grow of macro algae will reduce the nitrates in your tank and that's the "food" they use up. It will also be a good house for Copepods which is good food for most fishes. Oh ya .. Do try to increase your water's salinity. It's slightly too low. Try and keep it between 1.023 to 1.025
  18. Hey Vincent! Yups everything is good and I have completed my cycling process. Tank still very messy from all that Algae bloom but its clearing really fast. Hopefully by end of this week can do a rescape Can check out the tank at Member's tank area. You did a really good job with my tank
  19. Thanks bro Will update once there are new additions to the tank. Anyways .. Wondering if this has happened to any bro here before. Just 5 days ago my tank was showing way above 100ppm of Nitrate. That day I changed 50% of water twice at 2 hour interval and Nitrate dropped to 50ppm. Nitrite was still around 0.5ppm. I then added my hairy mushroom and cleaner shrimp. I tested Nitrate again last night and was surprised that it showed almost zero. Nitrite was at zero. Is it normal for the back end of the cycling process to be completed so quickly? Or did my addition of mushrooms, Zoas and a small handful of red algae speed up the removal of Nitrate?
  20. Haha! It is super messy! Shall take some time this weekend to tidy up the cables behind.
