I am wondering if no3 levels will affect the zoas and gsp opening?

I am trying to lower it down.. Just put purigen into my tank.. Maybe need to renew my activated carbon...

Any suggestions?

At 50ppm or mg/l, it's considered high.

Carbon dosing. Brightwell biofuel (liquid form) or bio pellet reactors.

It works for me but bio fuel just doesn't have the kick for my tendency to overfeed XD.

It reduces my nitrate from about 160 to 40 (api test kit back then) but never pass below 40. So I switched to bio pellet reactor.

Hi all,

Just a Update....

Try to buy some Occellaris clown to replace the clark clowns....

Buy 2 from Ah Beng...nxt day died

Buy 2 from Ng Couple....3 to 4 days later died due to non feeding

Went to LCK201 in the afternoon; Thank God they are still around and entertain me despite closed already.

Got a Royal Gramma Basslet from them.

On the same day...went over to Coral Farm...Got a single Orange Occellaris Clown.

Both of them doing quite well now....

Just that my Damsel being a bully; bossed my Royal Gramma around...so i put him under House arrest...

To date

My Tank has

1 x Royal Gramma

1 x Orange Occellaris Clown

1 x Bicolor Blenny

1 x Sleeper Blue Dot Goby

2 x Blue/Green Chromis

1 x Hermit Crab

Thinking of adding either a Coral Beauty or Flame Angel and maybe a Fire Goby and Wrasse...

One cleaner shrimp and maybe a starfish...

I am kinda of given up on reefing for now....

Took my tank 1 yr to stabilize with parameter suitable for reefing. New tank syndrome will proceed with all the no3, algae issues etc. :/ diatom, hair algae, bubble, then eventually kelp or coralline algae. :D don't give up, I lost my Euphyllia garden and a good batch of fishes... =.=

Let nature takes its course and when stabilize alrdy, u will be enjoying it once again. Heheh.

Try biosphere, I used that and the PO4+no3 dropped drastically. Couple with no3 and PO4 removal filter wool.

Brightwell's Reef biofuel worked for me when I used it last time ....

Dropping my nitrates from 160ppm to 40 ppm  , but obviously wasn't enough for my bio load so I switched to a reactor ... (had 2 puffers and alot of reef fishes on a daily feeding regime, cute fat couple haha, 20 gallon tank, about 2months old back then.)

Then again , every tank is different ... So I can't be absolutely certain of stuff haha ...

Don't give up on reefing just yet ^^

Cheers

p.s what is the thing on the left of your tank? hahaha

Left side? For cleaning tank...

Right side.. House arrest the damsel for being too naughty and bullying all the fish...

Where to get the biofuel thingy?
