my advice is...

skimmer should be in the last compartment of yr setup.... should be in first few.... if i not wrong... if can use externally... i suggest u 'repipe' yr skimmer output to yr refuge... then yr skimmer input from the first compartment....

reason for saying so is.... u wouldn't wanna slight chance of those micro-bubbles running into yr main tank... IMO... its ugly....

thanks for the advice. :D because of the size of the refugim, the first and last compartment becomes very small, i realised i couldnt fit the macro as250 skimmer into the first compartment at all. someone told me to put the skimmer into the refugim itself and the powerhead in the first compartment. . but its kinda unsightly. . and bcuz of the cabinet. . its not quite possible to place the skimmer outside but i noe i definately need to improve on the set up. . :paiseh:

He is right though, you should consider repiping your output back to the first chamber or you should consider adding some more sponge in the last chamber to filter the microbubbles, I am using a AS350 and the micro bubbles are all over the place. :(

Maybe you can consider using pvc piping to U-turn the return back to the first chamber.

hey pal, ur sump system is quite similar to mine...i did not put a refugime in it (in the middle compartmemt) instead I put all my stuff inside (Skimmer, FR, pump etc etc)

What they said is true, if you put the skimmer (eps Macro Needlewheel)at the last compartment of the sump, it will have bubbling effect in the main tank.... I uses LR at the output of the skimmer to min the bubbling effect....

have u tried to turn off the power of ur return?? Ur sump might not be able to hold the amount of water flowing down.

:o

actually an accident happened. One of the faulty extension exploded and disabled my tank for a while. my sump almost overflow until i off the vaulve. . lucky i was at home. . sldnt put so much water ehzz?

Is not the amount of water. it the space u have left in the sump, it not enough to contain the amount of water that are flowing down during a power trip. i suggest u get a y-check valve. This will prevent the water from over flow. ;)

i fully agree. i juz set up a sump. to prevent a back flow flooding the tank, you can try to make a hole at the return pipe in the main tank. the hole should be 1/2 inch below the water level of the main tank. this method will break the siphon. once the water reach the level where the hole is , the water will stop back flow...

see this sump design
